I just thought I'd post this up for anyone who is interested in learning more about our EFI setups and the EEC. I've been pretty interested in the idea of toying with tuning myself but before doing anything I wanted to get an idea of how everything works. Here's a site that explains a lot. It tells you what most parts do and has a very good glossary of terms.

http://www.fordfuelinjection.com/

I also found some handy definitions and explanations of all the functions, scalars and tables used in CalEdit for use on the tweecer. I'm unsure if these relate directly to other tuning software or not. I'm sure someone can tell me either way. It's from the A9L EEC, but the definitions are still relevant. Just not everything on there has been found in our EECs... yet.

Here's another glossary of terms that may be useful to anyone out there interested as well.

Thats brilliant Scaffy.
That would answer over half of the questions in the V8 and I6 forums.

Tell me about it. It's clarified a hell of a lot for me and I hope it can do the same for others.

Lots of good stuff there to get a general understanding of how EEC works.

Something to note is that the A9L thermofan control stuff does apply to EB-ED 5.0 EEC's as well.

The same pin 41 as the A9* type EEC's.

Thanks mate, Ill keep that in mind. BTW Pete, I did a comparison between the 2DDA and teh 3DFA in the OP code section, only difference is the checksum, and thats only due to the change in the parameters, so I would assume that its safe to run the 2D** bins on the 3D** ECU's with no hardware incompatibilities

What a great read, i have always wondered why the TPS switch on my xf was offset, and it looks like my knock sensor is also not working properly as well..took a while to read but it was well worth it .....how many rep points is that worth, excellent..
