Close Pictures and how to mod an AU sump to Fit EF/EL
Just by looking at the pictures, you can tell where to cut the sump, pretty much from the top of the 'V' under the collar to the FIRST main casting rib. Front View Attachment: Offside Attachment: Nearside Attachment: Weld the inside as well, this helps the oil flow and seals the sump nicely. Inside Attachment:

Fold the Oil baffle over leaving enough space for oil to slide down the front.
Attachment: Flatten the baffle mounting towers and drill/tap threads for re installation. Attachment: dummy fit the baffle, and when ready bolt down with some nice stainless hex bolts, with loctite 262 Attachment: When done, It should look like this Attachment: On the downside, you loose around 250ml oil capacity, However its not enough to really worry about. By modding the sump you don't risk any structural part of the car ie: K-frame and you don't need an engineers certificate.

Nice work Krytox, after reading that it makes it seem much easier than i thought it would be. A lot easier than stuffing around with cutting and welding the k frame and then getting a cert later on. I'll remember this if i ever need to chuck an AU bottom end into my EF

Neat job dude
Did u really have to chop that much of the sump??? How much clearance does it have now from the K frame???

Bit late, but here's the go.
I used 6mm Alloy Plate. The sump really did need that much cut off, The pictures look like there's a bit of a gap, but its pretty much just a fingers width.... well mine anyways. Attachment: Attachment: Here's a Picture of how to manipulate the Synchronizer to fit with its bracket 180degrees. Attachment: You need to cut off around 12mm from the Air-Con Pump spacers as the AU motor has raised mountings on the Block. So a finishing size of 31mm is perfect. Its also Easier to Install a AU Alternator rather than cut all the brackets to fit an EF one. Use the AU Knock Sensor, Remove the plastic plug from the wires and retreive the stainless steel contact. This will plug into the existing EF plug then tape it or Heat shrink it.

Smart Aluminum®, Local Head Machinist/Workshops If your keen, Print up the Pictures and take the sump to a Fabricator and they 'should' be able to do it for you. If they cant, never go back there again, they're useless. I'd expect around to pay around $100-150 to do it.

IIRC it was posted on here that the EF and AU knock sensors had a different signal type ??
Or have I got it wrong ?? BTW, Nice work Andrew.

I swapped the plugs on my EF so I could use the AU sensor, no issues.
