hey guys

i know this topic has probably been covered a hundred times over, but im reletively new to the site and couldnt find the information i was after

I have recently purchased a XH snorkel and was wondering if anyone has pics or information regarding a boxed pod filter on an ED falcon?
can it be done with the obvious size constraints of the stock airbox?

cheers

Yes it can be done, but with mine i had a bigger style K/N pod filter i dont have much left of the airbox, but what is left does a very good job of keeping the heat away and also there is a noteicable difference in power on the cooler days where the air temp is cooler and more dense.

Here are some pics of my ED,hope if can give you some idea's.Let me tell you thought once i customized the air box and fitted my pod filter the ED did seem to go better.I also made up a new intake tube which is 3inch with 2 silicone joiners.

Very nice work have you though of getting a larger mouth on that Snokel? Or getting a hole in the bottom of the box and route some tubing so near the wheel well for extra air?

No,dont really want anything bigger. Those XH snorkles are a joke for what prices people want for them.

Well if you have a look behind the LHF headlight assembly there is heaps of gaps for air to flow through,so there is no need on cutting holes in gaurds or making big scoops.Mine does the job fine and for the cost is great. On the cooler days you really notice the difference in the get up and go...

Remember you have to make the engine work,it will only suck in so much air it wants.Mines not a high HP machine i just fitted this up because i was chasing for some more performance and it worked out good.

cheers for the pics KRUPTD
looks like a pretty decent layout

Can a find a K&N filter in a smaller size?? Reason being im soon to be a P plater and dont want to chop up the air box to much

would rather keep that stock look ( apart from the intake tube)

The only reason i used this filter is because i didnt want to go out and spend too much,i had it stored since i had it on a couple of my previous cars.

If you want performance with the standard look i would advise doing the BBM conversion. The EF/EL intake setup and then you can run the better pod tyle setup in the air box.

Either way with the ED airbox you will not be able to reuse it with the original air fliter due to the design of the inatke to air box part.

K/N make a huge variety of sizes of air filters.

obviously you would have to make it the way it left the factory for a RWC.The only reason i cut the box was to make my pod filter fit. It's no big for me i have a spare box.The main reason i kept the box was also to be used as a box to shield the engine heat.
