Hi, i am new to this website and only joined a couple of days ago just for something new as the big ford lover i am
I was given a 1995 XG Falcon S ute for my first car, little bit rough with little dents all around the ute (ex tradesman ute) mainly being the drivers door and mud guard which i am soon replacing. Ute Currently: 2" Lowered, and i have just bought a set of "Showwheels" Streeter rims in a gun metal grey 18x8" Other than that it is stock, Has just over 400,000kms on the clock and still running strong! Plans for future: New door and mud guard, sand back, bog dents, prep and prime and then have it sent off to be sprayed, (I believe the colour is Polynesion Green, or something along those lines) Then i am planning an engine rebuild, i have looked at the kit for the re-build (forget the brand) and then also thinking of porting the heads, bigger valves, new springs, Wade 1636 Cam Grind and a SCT J3 Eliminator Chip, would like to hear your opinions and happy to listen to any other ideas that i could do to make my ute more powerful, baring in mind that this will also be my everyday driver, to and from work, Cheers Will post pic soon, the file is too big and at current time dont have time to shrink it,

Hey bud, sounds like you have some plans! I look forward to reading more about your XG and seeing pics... (i have one myself and in my mind they are the best vehicle in the universe) lol. I'm fairly new to the modding scene, but don't forget simple stuff like Extractors, exhaust, intake etc.
Intake can be dealt with by an XH intake snorkel and EA throttle body to airbox pipe or you could go another step and do a BBM conversion (that's what I'm doing) You'll need an EL ECU to run the BBM. Then the exhaust; I put a Lukey 2.5 inch catback on mine and would definitely recommend it and Pacemaker Extractors seem to be the most popular. Also while your at it chuck in some AU fuel injectors and if your keen serpentine belt and thermofans... Welcome to fordmods to by the way. You'll be addicted in no time Cheers, Cody.

Cheers thanks for all that, extractors are in my mind but ive been looking more towards a 2.25" catback, ive looked at the 2.5's, my only worry about them is the droany sound which i dont want too much of, ive heard a 2.25" on a mates VE SV6 and it sounds awesome, not too loud but when you put your foot into it the sound is a higher 6 cylnder sound, havent had any luck finding any branded systems in that size though for the falcons, all there is on ebay and online is the Lukey and redback 2.5" systems,
Neat ute of yours by the way

With a 200cpsi cat, middle muffler and a rear muffler you shouldn't get any droaning from a 2.5" zorst...
Mine only has a middle muffler and a rear hot dog and it doesn't droan at all :S If you're getting the exhaust done you might as well fit extractors at the same time, saves some money and hacking up the exhaust later down the track! Good luck mate, chuck some pics up!

Straight six will sould different to the V6 in note anyway. |

Thanks swc, so for a better sound I should try taking a resonator off? Or go the 2.5" with one muffler?

Well mine is 2.5 inch with one muffler, it sounded good and didn't drone at all and was quite at cruising speeds UNTIL you poke it up a hill and it can become quite loud and annoying, but then again the exhaust is usually drowned out by road and wind noise due to not being built very well. (a good example is how the XG has panel gaps that you could park the titanic in lol) Anyway i was very happy with my one muffler 2.5 inch exhaust ... Only gets loud on really steep hills.

Nope didnt have extractors, but putting them on after the engine rebuild. Think i will need to get a resonator to quiten it down with the extractors though.

Has anyone done a stage 3 cam from cms with j3 eliminator chip, and or had the heads done in the package they also do with the stage 3 cam? Or would I be better off buying the cam and chip, then getting the heads ported and bigger valves and stronger springs myself?

cant help you with your question man, but you dont get the heads ported, you get the head ported. Only has one head being an i6...

Phones got heads saved in dictionary for some reason, meant head ahaha,
Good pick up though lol, and I know the XR6 valve size around this time were a 41mm compared to the standard 39, so how much bigger than 41mm could I or should I go?

I think a tickford head will be more then enough with the other mods your planning to do. Just have a ticky head and get it properly ported and stuff. Most of the people on here are running standard valves with good power. That doesn't necessarily mean don't do it. Its your car do what you want but personally I think you will be fine with tickford spec.
