Dog legs rust out, they start to rust around the bottom of the front guard if they don't get the crap cleaned out that accumulates there. They can also rust around the rear door strikers, when they get higher mileage & start to crack the welds.....

Cheers

In area's near the sea the sill's are, away from the sea i have not seen many that rust there, without something causing damage to give the rust a helping hand....

The dog legs probably rust because not many ppl remove the C pillar cap's & clean the crap out that collects there very often. I do mine twice a year at least.

Cheers

Also the top of the front or rear wind shield where the rubber meets with the panel. I've seen a few rust there, usually towards the side rather than the middle.

And the tow bar bits inside the boot too, but that isn't a big issue.

That's way too much to cut a couple of sills off & weld on some new ones, then paint them up!

Cheers

Around the wheel arches and underneath on the inside of the sill panels...

Here is one I prepared earlier:

All the missing metal was badly rusted.. I replaced it all with my MIG welder and it was fine...
Later on I replaced the car with an EL and it was even better. :-)

Both my sills were stuffed and so was back 1/4. but I had a damaged LTD. so I cut the rear 1/4 lip part out and welded it to the EB. And my bro in law welded straight peicecs of steel in the sills place.

I used Flares and side skirts to hide the different shapes.

i was working on a 2004 Territory today at work, pulled the weatherstrip/rubber seal out from around the boot aperture, and where the panels join along the bottom should normally be about 3-4mm thick, this one was over 1cm thick bulging with rust  not just one spot, but about a metre of the aperture is like it...

You could do a short tafe course in panel beating & welding, then do that part yourself, and put it into a shop for the paint job.

Otherwise, get some panels, a panel beating kit & give them a go. I'm getting much better since i started on the rust & panel work on my torana. Still more to do, but the rust is gone.

Cheers
