im getting mine sorted out by getting it sand blasted, the only worse spot on my 99 au is the battery tray, where the battery would spill acid over it,
or just take it to a panal beater and get there opinion on what to do

I can't say i've seen fords rust in those places before. Not the E series anyway. My EB has a tiny hole in the top of the sill under the drivers door, due to dodgy panel shop badly fitting my side skirt after a repair only a few years ago, they damaged the paint & it was hidden under some sikaflex! I'll fix it up with a new steel piece soon.
Usually I only see rust in the battery trays, dog legs, around the tail lights. Sometimes in bootlids. Cheers ToranaGuy

WOW! My torana had less rust in it than that, and it's a 74 model that spent it's who life outside, before i stripped it & repaired the rust.
Cheers ToranaGuy

the biggest thing that causes rust is the salt in the air and the smelters i bought my 95 ef nt a single bit of rust none wat so ever but in saying that its always been sprayed in fish oil i can smell it in the boot

Salt does cause rust, but leaving your car dirty to then get wet, and not cleaning the dirt off also makes them rust.
I have seen AU's rust around the top of the boot lid seal, where the cabin air ducts go. On the outside the AU looked really clean, not a single dint anywhere, but lift the bootlid & you found cancer! Cheers ToranaGuy

are there any eas with the original wheel arches left
ef and el cop it in battery shelf ,front doors a few spots ,also sills and where the front guard bolts at the bottom. have seen 4 yo well looked after country ef station wagon with rear arches rusted through both sides. i thought my el fairmont had no rust till i dismantled it and the front doors and sills had bad rust. basically if you park outside or improperly wash your car you will have some sort of rust within 6months no matter where you live . |
