Hi all, has anybody fitted rear power windows to their EF/EL XR's?
I have ready to go, Ghia door trims, rear regs, wiring loom and 4 button centre console switch. Is there anything else I need and how many hours work for an auto electrician to fit you think? Thanks.

Isn't there soldering and cutting out of door skins involved?

Just out of interest what trims match the EL XR standard trims but with rear power windows? In other words do the ghia trims match the XR trims if you were to get just rear trims or is it the fairmont ones?

Wiring wise, it's pretty easy - the wiring looms in models already fitted with power fronts, have the plugs fitted up to the door pillar adjacent the rear door hinges - pull the existing wiring loom grommet, and you'll find them in the cavity.
The anchor rivets for the rear door handle screws won't be fitted, if you don't have the proper tool to fit them, you'll find that a pain. You can trim up and fit the plastic screw anchors like those used for the inside door handle opener - I found this the easiest way. Otherwise refer to the doco.

grab the EL ghia door trims, and you can detatch the top section (with the wood grain spear on it) and add the non wood grain section on. The whole door trim is held together with little pins, flip them over and you'll see what i mean.
Then take the cloth insert panel of your XR door trims (they just have folding pins to hold them on) and put it on the ghia trims. easy as pie.

So you can only make them up by mixing and matching the separate bits and pieces? So there isn't another model that is a straight swap to match the front doors then?

with my trims i just went and bought the fairmont trims and fitted them altho the futura trims still look rather basic modle, i am beginning to fit the front trims, ( i am going to do my rear windows over time) i am thinking about putting in leds into the handles while i am in there too.
