I'm not sure about the law in Vic but I would say that under the car is not legal...
I have talked to the RTA in Nsw about if ic can be done or not and have found many interesting things... Any light on your car that is coloured or not... can be defected unless it is placed 6" from the widest park of your car.... so blinkers and head lights all that are ok... Neons are not.... I got into the argument about a neon being disconnected but still placed under the car... the light itself can then be called a defective light... If connected then is car is defective because it has an illegal light atached to it.... so either way the can screw you... Neons are designed and sold as "to be used on private property only" other wise you will get F'd in the A with the wrong end of a batton.... saying all this... I still have neons under the car... and they look SICK!!! http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.c ... eID=156616 I have had them under every car I have owned... just don't drive around with them on constantly and attract attention I found I have never had a problem... I found while sitting around the car chilling in a carpark or down the river (with them on) the cops rock up and tend not to bother me

in wa its legal to have neons installed and on whilst driving, if
a) they dont change colours b) they dont flash c) you can not directly see the globe if driving or walking near your car and d) they are installed by a qualified auto electrician. basically its ok to have them here as long as they dont do something to distract or dazzle other drivers. but in my opinion, as above, its a crime against all things tasteful unless you own a lancer with a 10 inch shift light or such ricey crap. |

You not allowed to have
- red - blue - green - yellow You're not allowed white at the back, or red at the front. With so many "No's". And the fact they're gay. No point doing it.

I believe that there illegal but I don’t see a problem having the connected to the car while parked or for show
There is a rule in Victoria it is something like “excessive and unnecessary lighting “??? But if you have too much time on your hands you could always fit a s**t load of clearance lights all around your car Red at the rear Yellow at the front and Combination red/yellow on the sides yellow facing forward of course And then when you get pulled over you can argue that it is a safety thing OWNED
