You'll be better off with an EF cluster.

Here's a Police one I modded a few years back.

Krytox howd you get your cluster so bright and get the light so consistent over the whole thing?

most blue led clusters ive seen are all dark and blotchy.

I wouldn't mind a decent scan of that police facia so I can use it when I redo mine.. (police has many more speed increments and looks better)

He probably has the 8LED globes I used in mine..

The normal single LED lights look terrible and splothy.. the ones I got had 8 led's per globe pointing out and up all around and they nice and bright.

Meh, No secret.

I modded the globe holders, soldered in resistors and bought some 3500mcd blue led's

For more brightness I hardwired 4 more inside the cluster so the light traveled around the perspex.

Now tho, these things are upto around 30,000 MCD. thats bloody bright, but they're around $4ea.

I did mess around back then and installed red led's and it gave that nice looking purple fading into blue look as in the tech doc, but didn't look like that.

the problem is with the blue dashes, you've still got an orange trip computer (if you've got a fairmont) which sucks cause you cant even change the filter behind it like with the trip/clock and the cluster lcd! I had a look and the only way I can figure out how to do it is unsolder the lcd screen itself!

Wrong, you can remove the filter very easily.

No un-soldering required. you just need to remove the entire plastics around the pcb to get to the lcd.

as for the Trip computer/CC they're relatively easy, same again, undo them and replace the filter.

my pic under krytox's shows the blue led on the odometer. i took the pic out in the pitch black driveway, would show up brighter if i took it inside with the light on. pics are from my phone. mine uses a 10000mcd blue led from jaycar, u can get blue in 15000mcd now too. my dash photographs blotchy, but is very even colours. u can see the odometer and clock easily during the day

Sorry to hi jack the thread a bit but instead of posting a new topic, has anyone done the blue LED cluster conversion using custom white dials in the cluster?

Im interested to see how the white background would light up since im in the middle of making up my own white dials using the tech doc, just a little unsure of how even the lighting would be.

you can get a perfect dispersion of light using the Narva plug and play LED's.
i did so with my old EF.
(excuse the crappy old camera phone pic)
