i want everyones input on this one, as im doing this by myself with no one elses help

ive got a turbo kit sitting in my shed just needing a new turbo, i've been told to get a garret GT35R as i want roughly 300rwkws, now my questions are

how do i cool the turbo water-wise? where do i have to plumb into?

how to install an oil catch can for the rocker cover vac line? or wherever else it needs one.

where the waste-gate vac line goes to/from?

and anything else you guys would recommend for some decent power.

everyones help will be greatly appreciated

mate ur rocker cover vents go to a oil catch can, block up the openings at you throttle body and the cooling lines, one comes from the thurmostat the other from heater pipes look at a ba turbo to have a better idea as every one has diferent methods and input on here ..as i have found, or look for clear pic on other web sites such as boosted e series an so on .hope this helps .

A gt35r should support that power, your box might not.. Give us a list of everything done to your car at the moment.

As for the oil catch can one hose should go to the Pcv valve and the other to the vacuum hose that used to be plumbed into the pcv, or if the catch can breaths to atmosphere then just put a bung or stopper to block off the vac line.(which is illegal)

The rocker cover breather at the rear of the engine has to be plumbed into intake piping before the turbo otherwise if it stays plumbed to vacuum in the inlet manifold it will blow boosted air into the motor therefore pressurizing your sump. Also it is possible to just plumb it to atmosphere using a small rubber hose and filter(also illegal) it's what I've done with mine.

As for coolant lines for the turbo I'm getting my feed/return from just behind the waterpump on the heater pipe and just before the thermostat housing on another heater pipe, both with fittings brazed on to mate with the speedflow fittings for my braided lines.

Read the "how to turbo your i6 the DIY way" it's the first thread in this forum a sticky. That should tell you everything you need to know.

Sounds like you have a good platform to start with then.

A gt3582r with a 1.06 rear housing is good for about 400rwkw.... there are better turbos ofcourse but money is better spent on your drivetrain if your going to be chasing 300rwkw. Is your box a t5 or btr? I know troyman is pushing 267rwkw through his T5 with a custom HD clutch and thats holding up good, id say 300rwkw would be pushing the T5 to its limits. As for the BTR im not really sure of its limits. Are you running standard conrods? 300rwkw would be pushing the rods to its limits too.... in saying that ive seen a few e series pushing similar/more power with stock bottom ends.... i guess it depends on the condition of your engine and the tune.

yeah the box is an auto :( i love autos but sucks how they wont hold much power. yeah the rods are standard aswell, keep in mind my exhaust manifold is t3 flange so i want a turbo that will bolt straight up.

Get a tko600 or t56 :P haha well that's if you have 4 or so grand to play with and a bit of mechanical knowledge as it requires some modification. ;)
