How much work would it be to transplant a 4.0L Engine and auto trans into my xf?

Thanks Adam

G'day mate, I reckon it's a hard job to do, cause the BA's engine is a lot bigger than the XF's and length might be an issue also where the engine mounts are situated? You would also need a custom tail shaft. Sounds like a good project though...

Yeah, I was just thinking about it because the 250 Xflow in it has about 400,000kms on it and the trans is about to bite the dust...

Oh well, I guess we'll see how it goes.

It is not longer, height is the only issue.

Have a look in the 6 cylinder workshop as there are a fair few threads that will give you info on this conversion. BA into XF has been done before. You will find that getting the engine into the engine bay is not that big a deal, trans is easy if you use a T5 or an XF/EA 3 speed. The 4 speed auto apparently doesnt fit in the tunnel. The engine management is going to be tricky part. If you dont want to go for an aftermarket ecu the easiest way to go would be an AU engine, ED intake manifold, and a mpefi pre-smartlock ECU.
