Hi, have 1965 xp wagon and the Borg Warner 35 3 spd auto box is no good - 170 motor is ok but don't know for how much longer!

Considering my options - take out 170 pursuit motor and 3 spd box and replace with 4.1 xd, xe, or xf engine and 3 spd auto, find another Borg Warner 35 3 spd auto box to fit with 170 pursuit motor (proving challenging in NZ at the moment) or put later model xd, xe or xf 3 speed auto box in with the 170 pursuit motor if it fits together with the bell housing.

Appreciate any advice on the options.

Can you get hold of an XR - XW B/W35? - It is the same length as the XP box, Swap the extension housings over & it will fit

XY's - onwards have a longer extension housing, and to fit that, means messing around with the tailshaft length.

You may find fitting a later model engine & box, that you have to fit disc brakes to the front for legallity reasons.
