I reckon the best thing that you can do is keep your stock air box but cut a hole in the bottom of it. Also cut a hole under the air box and run a POD directly in front of the body kit hole.
Reason you keep your air box is so it looks stock.

i got a spare bottom half of a airbox lieing in my shed, jsut wondering when i cut the hole in it and water goes in it wat wil happen if da engine sucks this water or can it suck it in
would it be good to drill a small hole on the corner for the water can drain out?

cheers

Virtually impossible

Unless the car bonnet is under water then should be fine as the air instake sucks in air from the top and there is also a drain hole in the bottom of the air box. Look at it, you will see what i mean.

thats and old thread dug up lol
ironically i spent a hour reading this whole thing and am going to do the mod

I had my hand Down the front of the airbox and side and while the engines running u can feel the fan pushing cool air in front of the box so you could imagine while driving that air would flow there

Fair enough with this mod on a ef/el where the snorkle goes to the bottom of the box and up to the intake.
But when this is done to a ea,eb,ed where the snorkle goes to the top of the box and the bottom goes straight into the throttlebody you'd run the risk of sucking forign objects straight into the engine.
I've removed the plastic that goes behind the indicator the into the guard and I get heaps of rocks up in there. Id hate to have one in my engine...

My airbox on the EF has a big hole cut in the front face, covered with mesh. The stock snorkel has been removed from the top half and I have a pod in there mounted on a 3" 45deg bend. Sound is awesome; throttle response is lightning-fast as I also have many other intake mods. Next on the cards is another intake through the bonnet. If XRFairmont67 ever gets these scoops that he's working on actually finished, I'll connect one to the airbox.
