I'v finally found a box/bellhousing, but i just want to check that its an 8 before i grab it. I will post the tag details here when i find them out, but looking at the pics can anyone see if it is a V8 box or a 6 box? it has been sitting in the garage for a year so it has a bit of corrosion seeing it is alloy, as you can see in pics but will clean up well.

Cheers fella's
Mason

Hard to say, the
Bell housing = 8 (looks similar to a turbo pattern) but its not holden.
Box could be a 6. (can't see the input shaft, get a measurement from the retainer to the tip)

The box is a NON WC box, so whatever story they've told you, its not a EB and above Box.

Needs a clean! Gone all white and fluffy!.. grab the degreaser NOT the aftershave!
:)

haha, ill be cleaning this bad boy up real good. The guy had it behind his 302 that was in his EB, but the 302 was rammed not injected. whats a World class box look like? I have a 6 cyl box that was original in an EBII Falcon S, and looks the same? The guy is giving me the Tags and shaft measurement tomorrow. So fingers crossed its an 8, otherwise its off to castlemaine for me. The bell housing is an alloy repro of the standard 8 box, but just because he has a box bolted up to it doesnt mean it is an 8 box, so im just being sure before i fork out a grand.

As Andrew said - looks like an XF/EA/EBI 6 cyl box.
Obviously you should be comparing input shaft lengths with your other T5. If they're the same, it'll certainly be a 6 cyl box with an aftermarket b/housing.
Here's some info from a past thread:

nope, the input shafts are different lengths

ford I6 input shaft is 167mm
ford v8 input shaft is 193mm
V6 commy input shaft is 240mm
V8 commy input shaft is 205mm

Yep, from the base of the shaft on the box, to the tip. it will say roughly 167mm or whatever measurement you have.

When I bought my T5, the bloke said it came out of an EL. However the casting date stamp stated '89 which meant it was an EA box. I know this doesn't really help with the input shaft length but this is a piccy of my EA box with a Dellows bellhousing and modified input shaft:
