Hi everyone,
I recently carried out a manual conversion to my ed falcon sedan. When I did the conversion I used a t5 from a ed Re enforced pedal box and fitted new pedal bushes Fitted new clutch cable Fitted new exedy standard clutch Had the 6 bolt flywheel machined I used the manual tailshaft So the issue is at low speeds coasting and very light throttle I gets a jerky feeling through the driveline mainly when slowing slightly (not using brakes). Its definatly not a engine missfire or anything like that its almost feels like its got heaps of diff lash or something. Ive heard people say on here possibly bushes in the back end so ive replaced with nolathane Sway bar link and d bushes All the watts link bushes Complete upper tailing arms gearbox mount with non nolathane item Ive also checked the Uni joints Diff lash The lower trailing arm bushes dont looked cracked Which all seem ok Im loving the acceleration with the 5 speed but the low speed jerkiness is annoying me so much im getting tempted to put the auto back in as I didnt have this issue until fitting the manual. Any help would be appreciated Cheers

I'm pretty sure it's because the idle settings are different from auto to manual. The engine over corrects and then cuts the air repetitively.
Try unplugging the ISC and adjusting the idle screw so the engine doesnt die and see if it still does it. |

Ok cool thanks for the tip il try that tomorrow. I am using the manual ecu so could disconnecting the isc still help?

i've had the same problem for a while now, found there was a heap of slop in the diff.. changing it tomorrow i'll report back with my result.

I couldnt really feel any excessive lash in my diff but I suppose the engine can feed more torque into it compared to me just twisting the tailshaft back and for so if I have any the t5 will find it haha. If I get to the stage and the lsd needs to be rebuild I reckon il get 3.9:1 gears in it and just put the auto back in. Thanks

What other mods? J3? Cam? That happens when its too rich on decel aswell.

Nothin to extreme
Crow 901a stage 2 biilet cam 4499 pacemaker extractors High flow cat 2.5 exhaust with 2 mufflers Xh snorkel Kn filter 3.27:1 lsd All these mods were carried out before the t5 conversion. The cam is a real baby it idles like a p***y cat. Cheers

No I was told by the mob who sold me tge cam it was the biggest I could be before I need a chip so its just got the stock manual ecu.

My guess would be too rich on decel then.

Hi everyone thank you for the responses
I just disconnected the isc and set the idle screw so it will just idle when dead cold with the ac on and I took it for a bit of a drive and hopefully its not some sort of placebo effect but I reckon its actually better.il give it a couple of days and report back if its better. I wonder if your onto something with the running rich on decel. It dissapoints me a bit because the company that sold the cam said I wont need a chip with this cam. if I knew I needed one I would of got a bigger cam AND a chip! Grrr o well. Is there any sort of mechanical adjustment I can do to lean it out a bit on decel? Or j3 is my only option. I was reading a thing on autospeed about jim mock and they reckon there dev packages run the stock ecus does this mean they get random shudders and stalls etc when people get the bigger cam packages? Thanks

As soon as you change cams, you change the vacuum of the engine which throws out the tune. Some cams are small enough that they will run on a standard ecu however they wont be running the best it can be. My opinion is that you should tune any cam.

Update.
Unfortunately the issue is still there so disconnecting the isc hasn't solved it so il be looking at getting a chip from ti performance. Also tempted to go a bigger cam while im there. thanks for the help everyone.

So i changed the diff to a nice EL one, and redone the tail shaft with new uni joints.. Done deal, driving like a new one.

Good to hear yours is fixed and going well.
Ive contacted Jason at T I Performance in regards to getting a chip made for the mods I have done and hopefully to fix this issue, Jason is away at the moment according to there reply email so once hes back il get it organised. il keep everyone updated on the outcome.
