EF/EL have WC Boxes.
infact anything above EB2 have WC unless its been changed.

Look for this pin:
With = WC
Without = Non WC

Thanks man, saved the picture and will check. A company online had the last three numbers of the second line of my code '012' listed as Non World Class just wanted to check.

I have checked the gearbox and it has the pin which is a good thing. So the Non World Class box has nothing in this position at all, just want to make sure.

Hey Wagon Dad... Just to pour some confusion on the issue, when talking to Borg Warner about this subject (they were really nice - Honestly couldn't have asked to be dealing with a nicer bunch... I lucked in there big time) they did not actually confirm this pin position thing as being 100% correct.

But yeah, anything above EB2 was supposedly WC. Which is a good thing, you're quite right. Means you don't have odd dimension roller pins to loose in your sump when trying to install shafts...

If I was a half decent mechanic I'd never have worked on my magnet on wire and string tool.

Thanks Fiend, I might pull the box and check the internals to make sure, I dont know the history of the car just bought it (EF XR6 in need of some tender loving care) , it looks all standard but looks can be decieving.

WC is a revised box, it has a few upgrades, as in:
some needle roller bearings.
reverse synchronizer mech.
different ratio.

its basically a series 2 box.

Non WC: XF/EA boxes
WC: EBII onwards
That pin/'roofing nail head' in the pic is the easiest way externally to tell the 2 types of boxes apart.
That pin is part of the reverse gear detent revised setup.

The Borg Warner guy seemed to think that there were some floating around with roller pins AND the pictured "lug", "pin" etc. Whatever. I am damn sure that in 99.9999 reoccurring percent of the time you'd be correct.

Was also told that it was a DATE OF MANUFACTURE thing and that maybe, just maybe, that date is not directly in correlation to the EB2 production cycle.

I have got the option to pull the gear box and have the car sit for a while, I dont need it on the road, this XR6 is my first Adult ( kids almost ready to move out) project car a long way from my first car a 302 XW Fairmont.
Now that we have 99% established that the box should be a WC, what is the best kit to get and where to get it. Thanks.

This transmission will have a tapered bearing between the input shaft and mainshaft, not the 15 needle rollers.
