Yeh everything works fine but when you pull the stick back from park it only takes a slight bit of upward pressure and the stick just pops out, mind you it only seems to happen when the button is depressed, if you don't touch the button and try pulling it up it stays put.

it is a sexy looking knob tho lol
Good pics though i think i remember driving a car (ba/bf manual) and its gear know was very lose as well could spin around, perhaps yours has come undone a bit, duno how hard it wud be to separate the leather boot and then spin it a few times to tight up, then re attached boot (if that is the issue) as for going up and down im stumped on that one, will leave it for someone with an FG to comment on. your olds mans g6et doesnt spin around right? does it move up though when in tiptronic?

Good point, I wasn't even thinking about that today when I drove it, should've checked, will have to check next time I see it, trying to explain it to him will be pointless, he has trouble with anything that's not paper and pen... Also it doesn't just do it in tiptronic mode it does it at any point but only if the button is depressed.

At a guess.. i'd say its like the BA shifter and under the leather boot (at the base of the shifter handle itself) there is a small phillips head screw and i'd say it may have come loose and now it doesnt hold the handle to the shaft. see the pic below of my BA.

Aha... that's what I thought might be going on, buggered if I know how to get to that little bastard though... anyone? The boot seems fairly well connected, don't want to do more damage trying to get to the grub screw.

i own a fg and the leather boot will just pull down of the stick and there should be a pin like a injector clip holding the stick onto the shaft by the looks of it yours is missing the pin the leather boot has 2 bits that clip together if you have dramas pm me
i love fg's looks good with the xr tail lights too i know what wheels to get there's some nice 19'' fg g6e turbo rims going that would set it off nicely oh also take the top of your air box and rip out the restrictor it will give you more throttle response. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/FORD-GENUINE-19- ... 2c588f5449

Thanks for the tip, I took the restrictor out today, won't get to drive it today but will give it a run tomorrow, hopefully there will be a noticeable difference, there should be, the restrictor takes the available space from 75mm diameter down to 50mm diameter which is a fairly big reduction. I thought the idea was to reduce induction noise. The au had a similar thing just not as easy to remove

^ Those things, according to Ford, "increase torque" like the pathetic BBQ plate and restrictive intake on the EF...

Other than that there is really no noticeable difference, I suppose the only way to know for sure would be to stick it on a dyno with/without and compare, I really can't see it making a big difference to the torque though, looks like a gimmicky after market add-on to me, if Ford were smart they could have made it an optional extra and charged a s**t for it's fuel saving ability (or some other rubbish) .

To be honest I think its a great idea. There is probably such a small difference between the flow rates that you cant notice it when driving. BUT by making it piss easy to remove, those who want to can, but they also cant complain about any intake noise either as they brought it on themselves. |

G6ET would have the six-speed transmission and associated shifter. This FG XT has the five-speed tranny and associated shifter. Do they work differently? The BA, BF four-speed shifter worked in a different way to the six-speed. |
