Thank you for that sorry for all the questions and typo's oxy is a hell of a drug While you are at it, you can put EF/EL weather strips on as well if yours are all rusty. |

I am curious did you end up doing a small guide in your old thread regarding the EL fuel lid as i am in the process of doing it
i read a few pages of your old car's thread and found a picture of it fitted but no info after But i have looked at EL wagons in car sales and they have the ugly finger style lid i am after the clean look as you had |

Would have to say one of my favourite mods that you've completed would be the EB/BA custom headlights. As well as the Dash install of course, I'm sure you can tell how jealous I am of that lol.

Hey BenJ I'm getting a EL Futura Wagon next month, so I'll be looking at some of your threads on lowering it and stuff, looking forward to it, taking forever.

if you're using a BA+ ecu there is no need at all to use cam gears.
cam gears would only be if you wanted to run an AU ECU and dial the cams into 0* ben, how has your fuel economy been?

You would spend $700 on the gears, $800 on an Xcal 3 and then an easy $1k getting a custom tune to work with the gears. You sill have to buy the Xcal 3, but loading up a standard tune (minus all the security crap etc) on a standard engine is simple and straight forward. {USERNAME} wrote: if you're using a BA+ ecu there is no need at all to use cam gears. cam gears would only be if you wanted to run an AU ECU and dial the cams into 0* ben, how has your fuel economy been? Well that is a bit hard to measure. The EL trip comp of course doesn't work with the BA donk or PCM. And I run around every where on LPG. I have a 62l usable capacity LPG tank. Driving every day in Sydney peak hour traffic and the usual family taxi duties I get approx 360kms per tank. When I went to QLD earlier this year, on the way home I got 460l out of a tank. Not too bad for LPG. When I want to have a bit of fun, I switch it over to petrol, 95ron, and it will rev as far as I want to push it. I have not yet hit the 6300rpm rev limiter lol. Cheers BenJ

why does your tuning cost over 1k?
i got quoted by CPV tuning, ( fastest unopened xr6 turbo) 795 for a dyno tune on my car to get more power out of it, i have a custoim tune he stored but i'm not happy with it |

But when you fix the cams in an engine designed for constantly variable valve timing, the time it takes to adjust all the load and timing points adds up very quickly. Cheers BenJ

{USERNAME} wrote: did you lock the cam timing bed? Hell no. The variable valve timing is one of the real attractions for going to an NA BA setup. It should be noted I have not had a dyno tune of any type for the BA. Cheers BenJ

lol sorry dunno why i even thought that!
brain wasn't working for a second. ill be doing the DOHC setup off an AU ECU in the XH ute ive got but will end up doing locked cams with gears and some wade cams. just trying to compare a DOHC setup in e-series with the ba ecu vs au in terms of fuel use. i dont think there is much difference, it still ends up better than a standard e-series setup
