LOL, you guys are TOOOOO funny.

The reference to the DARK SIDE is because I have been driving my daughters Holden Astra around for the last 6 weeks.

After having to put a new Auto in 2 months ago after the original died in spectacular fashion, with smoke, screeches and other such fun things, the car developed a miss.

In my efforts to track down this mysterious miss on no six, and after consulting other heads, a strong suspicion was that one of the lifters had 'stuck open' and was not letting the valve fully shut.

So I decided to swap in another set of rocker gear and lifters I have here on an EB Ticky head, yes I still have some parts laying around lol.

What I found during this job is that around a third of the rocker gear bolts on the engine in the car are effectively stripped to the point you can twirl the bolts around by hand.

Soooo, while the car runs, it really can't be trusted to stay that way. I have acquired an EF XR6 engine with around 180k as a replacement.

I have been waiting to get the car pink slip done with the original engine in it, as rego is due, which was done this afternoon, and it passed with no issues.

This Saturday I will pull the engine and trans out again, and prep the EF donk to go in. The complete EL inlet manifold will be swapped, and I will use the gear off the EF coil crap, on the EL Dizzy in an effort to avoid any issues with the aux shaft.

I will take my time as there is no hurry seeing as I can play on the DARK SIDE mwhahahahaha

Cheers
BenJ

I saw you a few weeks ago Ben!
Had to double take as I recognised the plates but not the car at first but then remembered you got a new wagon

I like the new front end, sets it off from the standard fairmont front without looking like an xr front end conversion.

Let's just say I didn't go out looking for parts to mod the EL with.

But I was offered the chance to pick up the whole car these parts came off by the owner and builder of them for a very good price, so I accepted that option.

As part of the deal, the front seats have been upgraded to NL Fairlane spec, and a set of Genie type extractors will also find their way into the engine bay.

I will NOT be looking at a manual conversion, I am very happy with the auto. I had been investigating converting the EB back to an Auto before I sold it.

Cheers
BenJ

What do you mean by a Semi Swap?

It was done and it stayed in there, or do you mean the EF/EL Cluster into the EB dash?

Cheers
