what is the best way to take off fast with an automatic EF?
ppl have said revving it to 4000 in neutral then crunching it to drive, but that sounds reall bad for the gears, and they weren't really that confident anyway. |

I spose if you really hate your car you could do that! Otherwise just stall it up or tromp it.

lol that person who told you that is an idiot
automatic EF's dont really loose alot of traction anyway mine has got exstractors and 2 1/2 exhuast nd ss induction kit and it still doesnt loose traction mind you i have 8inch tires =] but holding brake and throttle thends to make you slip a bit i found you just have to tramp it really |

Uh no, just stomping it is actually pretty slow.
Find where it starts to spin when stalled up, and take a few hundred rpm off that and thats pretty much where you should stall it up to. Once you start to move after you're off the brake, floor it. |

So not wide at all. I ran 225's and had some traction issues when stalled up, so stock tyre sizes aren't going to help traction

If leaving it in D the only way to get max torque is to have the "power" mode engaged.

Who ever told you the old 'sledge hammer' effect is the way to go I hope you had him hand you the money from a replacement trans....quick way to kill your box... As the guys said bring her just before the stall point then plant it unless shes worked the autos will take off nice n sharp without breaking into much of a spin....the sledgehammer if anything would do the opposite to you start as almost peak torque is smashed in further increasing you chance of breaking traction which would actually cost you time.. Just feels slow cause of the known issue with the btr etc autos having that looong 1st gear ratio.

neutral bombs are always funny to watch, steady did one in a borrowed commodore at the last drag day, won an award for it from memory.
some say stall it up till it wont stall no more, sometimes need both brake and handbrake, others say to let it stall up on its own, in stockish N/A trim it doesnt matter tooo much tbh, if its a turbo then make sure to stall it up. if you want the best trick to getting off the line in an auto EF, 3.7+ diff gears, highstall, GOOD tyres. |
