So after talking to some of the guys I thought I'd start a build thread for my 2009 N/A XR6

I don't particularly have a lot of money to make things happen quick, and being on Ps there won't be any forced induction involved so this might not be interesting for some.

However I have done things like add my own speakers and amps, so for some people my experiences might help them avoid making my mistakes.

So there it is.

As I said, being on Ps means this build won't get anything major for a few years (unless I get really brave) so in the meantime I am focusing on getting a good base for forced induction and looks.

Goals

Performance
Drive Train
Higher diff ratio- 3.72:1 - $400 {DESCRIPTION}

Limited slip differential - $1600 - Harrop Trutrac {DESCRIPTION}

Tail shaft - $???

- Currently I'm researching whether I should stick to the stock 28spline M80 diff or go up to the 30spline M86.
A big obstacle has proven to be finding someone who will sell the parts and ship them up north to me.

Induction
Cold Air Intake - $650 - Blue Power Racing, or SS Inductions {DESCRIPTION}
Possibly just a cheapo from ebay -$300 {DESCRIPTION}
Or make my own with fiber glass as it isn't hard

Valve Train
Billet Cams or Re-grind - I haven't started looking very far into this yet

Pulley
Under drive pulley kit - $300 just about anywhere on ebay {DESCRIPTION}

Tune
Flash Tune - $795 - Ford Flash Tuner X3

Suspension
Coilover Kit - $2300 - Tein Suspension {DESCRIPTION}

Cambered Wheels - $780 front and rear - {DESCRIPTION}
Possibly going to find somewhere I can get them cheaper. I remember seeing a few already, it's just not a priority right now

Front Sway Bar - $200 -ebay

Rear Sway Bar $200 -ebay

Brakes
Brembo 6 pot front - $2000 - Online

Brembo 4 pot Rear - $2000 - Online

DBA T3 slotted rotors front and back - $300 for 2 {DESCRIPTION}

Looks/ Sound

Sound
Front - Kicker 6" QS Component Speakers - $845 - Custom Car Sound

Mid - Kicker 6" QS Component Speakers - $845 - Custom Car Sound

Parcel Shelf - Kicker 6x9" DS Speakers - $120 - Custom Car Sound

Subwoofer - Twin, Diamond Audio 12" 1000Watt RMS - $900each

Amps - Option Audio OAK1200, OAC160 (2 of each)

Body
Sydney Special Vehicles website {DESCRIPTION} These guys do great work
FG GT Front bar - $700 - Sydney Special Vehicles - Current one is shabby, does not fit properly

FG GT Side Skirts - $500 - Sydney Special Vehicles

FG GT Rear Bar - $660 - Sydney Special Vehicles

Headlights - DRL headlights - $300 - Ebay

Tail Lights - LED Tail Lights, smoked - $300 - Ebay

It's a hell of a list and A LOT of money, but for now my priority is everything inside the car, not so much body kit or sound etc

Yay another fg build :p

Sounds like a good list of stuff so far... Post up your upgrades as you go, might even buy some stock gear from you if you will be palming things off... :p

Okay, mods I have already done
I'll include pictures if ya want them

Exhaust
2.5" Pacemaker Extractors
2.5" into 3" High Flow Cat
3" Manta Y split quad tip cat back

Audio
Front stage - DTX 6" Coax
Mid - KickerDS 6"
Bass - 2, Option Audio 12" Subs running twin
Amps - Polk Audio 4 channel
2, Option Audio 1200watt peak monoblocks

Exterior
GT Front bar with ego grey
Chrome door handle covers
Chrome side indicators
Brake calipers painted red (for that authentic P plater wank)
Kicker sticker on the rear window (again for the wank factor)
Full LED conversion, all the exterior bulbs are LEDs now

Interior
Carbon fiber vynl on all trim, including the ICC
XR6 Scuff guards in door frame
Blue interior bulbs

Pretty sure that's all I have done. But occasionally I'll just forget that something doesn't come stock :D

I'll edit the original post as I find more things I want to do and complete some of the objectives

If your happy to settle for 4 pot fronts from an f6 ute, I know I set going for $1200 with braided lines and all included...

But yeah that list looks very impressive... Can't wait to see your progress however slow lol it's all slow going from here on in for me. Once I get exhaust done, I'm going to be tight a** broke for a while. Rims are looking like setting me back $1800 just to get on the car :/

ICC carbon fiber. As you can see the lower half is really dodgy. I have more on the way, if anyone is interested I could do a 'how to' on pulling it out and applying it when I do.
Attachment:
smaller 8.jpg

Twin 12" Option Audios. When it's tuned properly it's actually not possible to talk normally outside the car with the windows UP, the sound system is pretty loud
Attachment:
smaller 9.jpg

Scuff guards on front doors

The chrome LED indicators and chrome handles. Since putting these on I have gotten a lot more "oh wow your car is pretty" compliments ;)

Engine bay. Usually the metal is polished to a mirror finish, but I have been lazy these last few months... Pacemaker extractors oh and a new battery, the stock ones are terrible, swap it out with a bigger one as soon as you can
Attachment:
smaller 12.jpg

Yes I was naughty. I wanted to experiment with the difference in sound before I got a decent CAI. note, having holes really does allow a lot of extra induction noises

You've been busy... That how to would be awesome too btw.
Will be buying the vinyl wrap soon for my car, I'm going carbon as well. Leave the gloss to krazed, gotta be able to tell our cars apart somehow lol

Are they in good condition? If so, depending on when they are looking to get rid of them I am interested. I just wont have any money for a couple weeks after christmas, maybe even new years. Same story as everyone I guess haha.

But bigger brakes is definitely a priority, what good is a fast car that you can't stop when a skippy goes across the road?!

They are from a guy I recently bought the growler kit from... From what I can gather they are fairly new, ad says used for 200km. But yeah his had them advertised for a while but everyone is just asking him to drop price and part it out though no one has seemed to put forward a serious offer. "Falcon xr6 turbo stuff for sale" page on fb, add it and scroll down to a guy named Aaron. There is also a set of 6 pots for $1500 on the same post, some guy named Andrew trying to hi jack his post lol. But yeah have a look if your keen and let the guy know.

All good questions uniacidz

Quote:
Brembos? simply WHY???
No need for it. Its not a race car nor turbo.
Unless you doing some major track days, theres no point. Buy some better pads instead.
or these

Because it WILL be turbo one day. Why NOT spend the money now and be ready for it?

I also forgot that I have changed all the pads with DBAs on the rear and Bendix on the front
Plus DBA T2 Slotted rotors on the front.
Together these make for some great braking power, but not enough...

Quote:
Airbox? really that much?
FG XR6T Typhoon Cold air Intake

Yeah I've been looking at them as well, there really aren't any pros to the BPR one next to these, saves about $200 as well. But it's still something I'm looking at

Quote:
Coilovers?
Do you really need em? Normal shocks arent enough?

No. God no.. The standard shocks are terrible. Remember this car is 2009 so they are worn by now. But aside from that I have experienced the magic that is coil overs and I love the capability such a small thing brings.

I'll look in to that FB page for the Brembos

Very nice ride you got there mate. Good to see another FG on the forums :D Love you list of mods with what you have now and what you want to get done too. Good luck with it all. Also how did you go with hooking up the subs and amp with the original ICC unit that's in the car?

I used line converters to change the signal from each speaker wire that is in the doors into RCA.
So speaker wires soldered onto the oem wires that connect to the standard speakers, run through the car into the boot, into the line converters then the RCA from line converters go into the amps and from there the speaker wires run all the way back up to the speakers.
I don't particularly like how much extra wire and fiddling round comes with them.
If you'd like I can make a new thread and go into detail and include pictures

Its all good, thanks for the info, yeah its a pain that the ICC has no RCA input. Eventually I want to change my speakers and put sub and amp in there but yeah being such a new car with just over 3000 km it can wait just a little longer plus then I can work out what I want to run for speakers and amps and subs etc...

How much wore did it take? I'm about to fully rewire the sound system in my car. Full boot install kindly fabricated by my chippy cousin.
Twin 12" pioneer subs, cheap for now... But allowing for future improvement. The wiring/setup costs are going to be like 300-400 :/

300-400?! Just to do the wiring?! Woah man!
Is this what you have estimated to do yourself or for someone else to do it for you?
Because I'm pretty sure even with all the fuses I've blown and re-wiring the whole car about 3 times now I haven't spent 300 all up!

I'm doing more or less what you have done, 12 gauge to and from boot, 0/1 gauge power to boot, line converters, distribution blocks with fuses, fittings, connections... I have very little idea what I'm doing... :/ so it's all eBay costs...
I'll be doing it all myself except the boot install fabrication which my cousin will be doing for me.
