Ok well most of you know about my little mishap with my Red EF Futura :(

Image

Finally after 3 months the insurance has finally come though. :D

Now, a few people would know that I was meant to be having a newer car coming and that isn't happening as such anymore, theres a long involved story for that which I won't go into here.

However, thanks to MadMatt for his scouting around I have picked up this:

1997 EL GLi
Gunmetal Grey
364000k's on the clock
STOCK AS A ROCK
Price $1100 :o

Here are a few pics as I got her,

Now the good the bad and the ugly
The Good:
Runs like a dream, engine is smooth as, definately a sign its been looked after and does not feel like its done as many K's as it says
Transmission is strong
Body is straight for the most part
Aftermarket headlights (no yellowing)

The bad
Needs to have the themostat and Idle control valve replaced
The dent in the tailgate
El Cheapo Wheels, spin up easily

The Ugly
Rooflining, falling down lol
Stock headunit and speakers
Those hubcaps :S

Overall though it was a bargain, watch this space for developments ;)

So development already

The first thing to be changed to it was, the headunit haha

This headunit has been extrordinary, this is the 4th car its been in and one car its been in twice, 5 years old and still runs like brand new, can not recommend Eclipse enough.

I'm picturing it slammed with factory hubcaps, and a new straight spoiler-less bootlid. :D

Nice cheap pickup there dude, If i had that, first thing id do is lower it maybe on supers, pull those hubcaps off and spray the interceptor wheels silver, get a new boot with no spoiler, clear side indicators, a ghia interior and a 2.5" exhaust.

- Boot $100
- Springs $120 a pair
- Ghia interior $400
- Exhaust $300
- Silver paint $5
- Hubcaps $frisbee

1000 bucks and u can have a nice looking comfortable cruiser.

Ok so its been a while since I posted about this but things have moved forward :D

Firstly I put Fairmont cluster in,

Image

Yes they are white needles, was originally an EF cluster so I took apart both and swapped the faceplates over.
Blue LED's for now

Image

Trip computer was also on the cards
Image

After that, speakers to actually be able to enjoy music.
Image
Image
Image

Fronts are Polk Audio somethings... I'll have to check and the rears are Eclipse, the same ones I had in the front of the EF for AFD

Yes I cut holes in the grill for the tweeters, some may not like it but I don't mind it, plus allows for the tweeters to be pointed correctly. Budget wouldn't allow for going splits and I don't really want to go down that route yet.

Then... the brakes went :(
Howver this provided a great opportunity to also lower the car at the same time

Here with the project, another EL so Picture title... The Two EL's :D
Image
Very notacible difference in height now :P

And some wheels kindly on loan to me
Image

Next.... Exhaust :D

Ok small update, haven't done anything else yet except for an amp and sub. Lack of funds and time the biggest contributors

However the FordMods dyno day was a lot of fun and even though I haven't done any performance mods yet it was good to get a baseline dyno reading for my EL

However.......

69.5rwkw

Needless to say I was a bit disappointed in that and ended up getting the lowest rwkw for the day, even getting beaten by an 07 Focus :( and my award??? a broken engine mount hahaha
Image

The culprit for the very very low reading... a blocked cat. and it must be insanely blocked up because just taking out the O2 sensor and allowing the exhaust gases to come out that hole resulted in a 23.4rwkw difference
Image

That's the reading I got without an O2 sensor in

Image

So the exhaust from my old red EF is going on as soon as I've done some stuff and helped a mate out :D

I still think we could have borrowed a long extension bar and hammer and punched the cat out, but alas there was only time for one run. But on the brighter side 92.9rwkw through a M18 exhaust hole isn't bad.

We should have put it over the pit and done it....

We had the tools and the people that know what they are doing...
Would have been easy as to too :)

Really looking forward to getting the Pacies and 2 1/2 on. Had already bought the extrator gasket ages ago just keep running out of time to get the wagon sold and then help Matt get rid of a few cars to pay the ransom he's got on it off so it can go on my car :P hahahaha Matt knows what I'm talking bout

Ok so time for an update

Got around to replacing the cat and extractors, still got the rest of the exhaust from the cat back to replace but thats all currently 2.25in and got a 2.5in to go on so not a huge rush yet.

So out with the old
Image

and in with the new
Image

The extractors are Pacemaker 4480 comps

Runs a lot better and lot a lot more up and go :D
