Slow and steady is the name of the game.

Now that we are getting more daylight after 5pm things should go quicker.

Cheers

For sure. I know I'll be getting a bit more done, tho I should pickup some filler at work tomorrow, I run out the other day when doing some fill work on one of my GT flares, inspired by you to get some more work done on them, patching them back into shape lol.

Cheers

LPG Sticker - HEGO - XB GT Bonnet

LPG Sticker

OK, so since I handed in the number plates that came with the car, I have not had the 'required' LPG Sticker on the wagon.

I picked up a sticker kit and riveted the plate etc on today.

Image

Better to be compliant with the legal requirements I think.

HEGO - Oxy Sensor

I was able to pick up a cheap oxy sensor for $40 delivered and fitted it to the car last week. I am hoping for some improvement in the economy. The engine feels better, as in a bit more refined.

XB GT Bonnet - Progress

I also got some time today to get some more work done on the bonnet.

One of the areas I wanted to address was the sides of the bonnet. I had not prepped them correctly, and the paint was just flaking off. So I removed most of the effected areas.

Image

I then sanded back a skim layer of body filler I had applied to the middle of the vents and then went over the rest of the bonnet.

Image

It is now ready for the first full coat of primer. Hopefully the weather holds tomorrow.

Cheers
BenJ

XB GT Bonnet Progress

Weather was good yesterday and I was able to get the first primer coat down.

I sanded it this morning with 400 wet and dry, and took a couple of pics of it wet.

Sooo, very close now.

I have to fill a few pin holes with the spot putty etc, and minor stone chips on the front edge. Then a couple of coats of spray putty will go on to correct any minor level issues.

Cheers

Nice progress mate. Is the support you have under the bonnet one of those folding ones with padding on it? I think I've seen them on sale somewhere recently....

Cheers

Actually, it is a small fold up plastic topped table. Much to my wife's dismay LOL.

Cheers

AU Ghia Badges

Ever since I went for a ride in MRE50L's AU Fairlane Ghia and saw the very nice Ghia Door Trim Badges.

Unfortunately, new ones proved quite pricey from Ford at $24.25 each and I wanted three of them.

The other day 3 of these badges came up on eBay and I was able to secure them for $23 posted.

I couldn't use the std fitting clips so removed them with the dremel. The photos will show the rest.

Wow, that looks pretty damn nice BenJ, adds that finishing touch to the interior perfectly. I'd have to say that's the first time I've seen those Ghia badges before.

LOL!!

Ash, Ash, Ash.

I thank you for your confession, but I understand you keeping them to use yourself, seeing as you purchased the wreck in the first place.

Seeing as you are feeling guilty, how much of that AU wagon rear cargo trim is there and what condition is it in?

Cheers
BenJ

Finally got some Black Pearl on the bonnet, and couldn't resist putting it back on the wagon to see how all the body kit parts went together.

Very pleased with the overall effect.

Clear coat is yet to be applied.

Cheers

ben, as i said via msn the bonnet looks stunning. however the dash spear with big round ghia badge im not sold on. just looks out of place. perhaps dremel and emboss the badge and it might look great

Needs to be recessed in the spear IMO.
Also IMO a largely black/ darkish grey interior needs woodgrain - not everyone's preference of course.
