Gotta say BenJ for a poor old 6cyl box-car wagon  she is looking pretty trick, the roof looked sweet and thought the terminals look trick (albeit a little doof-doof) might have to do mine as well! keep up the good work

So after suffering a few knocks on the head from the Tailgate falling down unexpectedly, I finally decided to grab a set of new Gas Struts off Ebay for the grand sum of $37 delivered.

Now, instead of almost falling down, the tailgate lifts itself up from around the quarter open mark.

LOVE IT!!

It opens up higher now too.

Should have done this months ago. I have only been watching these on Ebay for around six months, but for some reason kept putting it off.

Cheers
BenJ

I just did the same to my Territory thanks to Papa Smurf, boy does it make a difference. Can't say I've had a tailgate that opens on its own accord in a long time. Why do we put it off for so long?

LOL! I am still putting it off but since chatting with Ben I may actually get my A into G! :)

You CAN buy New from Ford for about $110.00 for the pair but I may be able to get them cheaper for you

There ARE a set of struts for the EA/EB/ED wagon that are extra lift ones.

PS, Sorry Ben, to hijack your thread :)

I was offering an alternative is all. Some people like to only buy genuine and therefore I offered that as something different.

BTW, don't be so quick to abuse people for just offering a hand.

No need to get all narky because a alternative was offered.
Some of the aftermarket stuff is deadset s**t and cheap , some of the aftermarket stuff is exactly the same as genuine in a different packet. Its a bit of a lucky dip.
I think if we have a contact with Papa Smurf to get genuine parts at discount its not something taht we should be upsetting.
Not everything is available aftermarket , sometime genuine is the same price if not cheaper and not eveything is available at the wreckers.
Geez there are a lot of a*** people on this site.
It actually amazes me to see some of the things I see. People happy to buy second hand brake pads from the wreckers , people using second hand parts as a proper fix , not just a get out of trouble item. Some of the stuff is actual safety related stuff and people are happy to compromise on using secondhand brakes etc when they are carrying their family around in the car , but its all ok providing the car looks good.
Deadset amazes me sometimes.

Sorry to hijack your thread Ben but its something I have been passionate about for a while and it just reared its head. Good to hear the tailgate will no longer be falling on your head mate. Dont want to see that intelligent and good looking kiwi mug damaged hey..........

Never knew you could get high lift versions for anything but EF/EL. I have a pair of EL's on my ED but they are old and fall down when it's cold which is the reasoning behind me needing some more :)

-10% from list price @Ford- customer will pay for everything at the end of the day.

Hey All.

After PapaSmurf mentioned how long the thread is getting, I had a think and have now made an Index on page one.

This will let members jump through to the various highlights in the build thread.

It will also help ME find info when all you guys ask me how I did something LOL.

Cheers
BenJ

That is a good idea alright. I'm going to do one too, and then claim it was my idea.
