That wiring will be much nicer when it's refit, and a heap neater as well. Just make sure you draw up a diagram before you fit it, incase you have to t/s it somewhere down the track.

The serp belt setup looks good man. It's something i should probably think about doing, so i can correctly setup a 110amp alternator i have, instead of modifying it to fit my old 3 belt setup. But i don't really have the time to do the conversion. Too many other projects that need attention.

The pic of the dash out, man, been there & done that many times before! Much fun isn't it? I think i had the dash in & out 3 or 4 times for the manual install, then again twice to fixup my aircon & heater. I had to fit new cores to the setup, both mine were leaking. Then again to fix up some other niggling wiring issues.

Nice to see the progress!

I really really like the wiring for the LPG Benj, very swish indeed. And the whole serpentine thing --- you know you could buy an AU motor for $350 over here..? What are they worth there? Heheheh, sorry about that. Just seeing a motor out a car means it's being replaced in my world of mechanical genius...

I still have two EF dash' s for sale. Am asking $16.66 for the both of them on TradeMe, and no one has bought them! One is Fairmont, one is Futura (with badges). Even have the Futura BEM and half the console buttons thrown in for free! Along with a partly chopped Futura wiring loom and a partly chopped Fairmont loom. $16.66! And no one wants it? Man, I just can't figure it.

OK, Todays list of things completed.

The most important is that, I shipped my lovely wife off to the USA for seven weeks. She is going to see our daughter who lives in Atlantic City, and is an Apprentice Ballerina.

This of course means that I will miss her terribly..... while modding the hell out of the Wagon!!!!!!

After I got home from the airport, my son Luke and I, with the help of Racedirector who happened to drop by, removed the pedal box and intalled the manual pedal box. I also removed all the EB Cruise Crap from under the dash, along with the TCM.

So I now have a clutch pedal. Yipeeeee

Next was to sort the heater box. I moved the relevant parts from the EB1 heater box to the EB11 unit. Now anyone who has pulled one of these out, should have noted how the foam had gone all powdery. So I made a quick trip to Clarke Rubber and grabbed some high density foam. After a few snips here and there with some scissors, I made replacement foam seals for the heater box.

This should prevent an issue the Red EB is suffering, which is air blowing down in the passenger footwell while at speed.

I also installed the fresh air duct from an EL. It seems that on a lot of cars the vacuum solenoid arms are broken to the fresh air duct, but this one is intact. We will see how long it will last. LOL

Other bits removed include the old EB1 A/C piping, and I also turfed the Auto Gear selector.

Oh, AutoBarn had a special on Degreeser. 99c a can. I bought a box of 12. Figured I would need it all to clean the Wagon engine bay.

I hope to make more progress tomorrow, beginning with putting the dash back in.

hey benj would u be able to post up of copy of the lpg wiring diagram...just curious to see how youve done yours...

I wonder why it had a safety switch...its not needed on efi systems because the pump is cut by the ecu when it detects a stall...the lpg usually uses the FP relay to open and close the solenoids...

Well, got a few odds and ends done yesterday and today.

Yesterday (Friday) after work, as my son was cleaning out the wheelie bins with the pressure washer, I decided it was time to clean both engine bays. So after a bit of work and a can of degreeser I ended up with this.

Plenty clean enough I think. The ED Ghia looks much the same.


Today, I got an early start.

I put the dash back in and neatened up the wiring under the steering column.

Installed the brake light switch, and when I went to test the brake lights nothing was working properly. So after stuffing around for a bit trying to fix it I asked Snap0964 to have a look as he is visiting, we realised that as the engine is out of the car, the earth is not connected. As soon as I bolted the earth lead down all the electrical things worked. Phew.

Troyman called in to see what progress we were making and came for a quick shopping trip with Snap0964 and myself. We picked up a few odds and ends, like resistors, heater hoses, and transmission fluid for the T5.

While Snap0964 built the loom for the manual conversion, I pulled the BTR off the ED engine, and removed the flex plate. I installed an new rear main seal and a rear welsh plug, before degreesing the engine and hitting it with the high pressure washer.

Then it was time for the flywheel, spigot bearing and clutch kit to go on, and finally the T5 was installed.

It is now 99% ready to go in the Wagon.

I noticed the EB1 log manifold loom was slightly different to the EB11 loom, so in the morning I will swap them around.

Then it will be going in.

If all goes well, my next update will be after I have been for a drive.
