Hey Ben,
Vents look pretty cool. Have you got an orbital sander?? I'd imagine you would. If you get some fine scotch brite, you will remove the fine sanding lines and when you polish them they should come up real nice. They have the polishing mops that fit on bench grinders at bunnings, and the compound as well, if you want a mirror finish... Missed you on the cruise yesty.... Daz

once you polish the hell outta those sweet looking vents would it be worth giving them afew coats of clear like on machine finish wheels to save you polishing them every 2 weeks?

Very nice work, BenJ...the effect of the vents doesn't detract from the bonnet at all...looks schmick...my suggestion however...would be to NOT polish them to a mirror finish though...while it would look really nice...glare from the sun would be like copping light reflection straight in the eyeballs! Maybe some sort of satin clearcoat when the polishing is finished?

Hi Spuddly
Good to hear from you once again. My intention was to end up with a 'Dull Polished Finish', so you thoughts are spot on. Cheers BenJ

Nice work on the power steering & the bonnet vents Ben! I'll now have a spare heavy duty tow pack cooler, so i think i'll rig it up as a power steering cooler on my EB. Once i've delt with some other issues, like the Xr8 i have with a busted ball joint.
Cheers ToranaGuy

I have got a few minor things done early last week.
****************************************************** Ages ago, the front passenger door Check Link (the thing that is supposed to hold the door open but never does) broke, so I finally grabbed one while I was at Pick N Payless, and replaced it. Not sure if it is any better than none at all though. I must see if you can get them new still. ****************************************************** I also got an LPG fuel gauge from an EF/EL vehicle as they have a different resistance to the EB sender. I installed it and the dash fuel gauge already seems to be more accurate. (Yes Snap, I know you told me to do this over a year ago. I am a slow learner.) ****************************************************** Again, some time ago, it was suggested I install this special plate under the ICS, that the dedicated LPG AU cars have fitted. I found one on a wreck and grabbed the pipe. I have had the plate for some time, but it only had the holes for the AU ICS, so had to mod it slightly. The idea is that as LPG is a dry gas, the ICS gets sticky easy as there is no lubrication. The AU setup uses the PCV valve to draw in oily vapours which helps lubricate the ICS. I have already noticed an improvement in the ICS operation. ******************************************************* The final bit I have been doing, is polishing the vents. While I have not taken final pics yet, I thought these pics might be of some interest. This is what is under the vents. I reckon I could check and top up the power steering through the right hand one LOL. I will hopefully have some pics of the polished and clear coated vents tomorrow night. Hope you all had a good Australia Day. Cheers BenJ

that ics plate is not there for the reason u gave....who told u that?
its there because on an lpg system the pcv leans out cyls 3 and 4 because the manifold is full of a combined fuel/air mix on lpg as opposed to just air on petrol only versions...the plate introduces pcv air further up giving it a better chance to mix

ben, EF's also had that valve under the ISC as i have one here that came on my EL wagon (had EF motor)
ill be using it when i boost the lane so i can run a catch can and still feed it legally back into the motor. but as ill be staying petrol i wont be needing the lube job |

In reality it actually achieves objectives, so, win win, all round for me. huggiebear wrote: ben, EF's also had that valve under the ISC as i have one here that came on my EL wagon (had EF motor) ill be using it when i boost the lane so i can run a catch can and still feed it legally back into the motor. but as ill be staying petrol i wont be needing the lube job Now that is not a bad idea there Huggie.
