Nice work ben. I knew you'd end up putting the EL engine into the black beauty.
I love this wagon, it has a beautiful presence.

Well today is another day, and for Paulmac and myself, another day playing with Eseries, and more importantly, grabbing bargains for Eseries.
Paulmac bunked down at my place last night, and this morning we headed off to Pick N Payless to see if we could find some odds and ends. SVO_Matt said he saw a good wagon cargo are rooflining, so I was keen to check it all out. We had fun poking around seeing if we could find anything useful. Paulmac scored well, with some Genie headers, and on our way out we found some smick 16 x 8 CSA mags with near new tires on them. Paulmac grabbed those as well. Here is some pics of his ED T5 Futura after we fitted the wheels. They certainly look the goods. As for what I found. Just a few bits and pieces. A very good condition radiator bottle with sensor. A wagon number plate garnish in good nick which will be painted black. A near new set of shim type camber caster adjusters. And I did get the cargo area hood lining, but no pic of it yet. After we got back home with our haul, thank god I now have a wagon, we went out and picked up my new Redback 2.5" cat back system I had ordered. I got it through my local chap, and ordered a system with a rear resonator. We fitted it this afternoon. When we first started the wagon I originally thought it was too quiet, but after a bit of driving, it has loosened up a bit, and I really like the note and the volume. When the EL Engine goes in, the Pacemaker extractors and High Flow cat will change it, so I will reserve my final opinon until then. I will be getting a nice chrome tip for it tomorrow and will be shortening the end just a little bit. Well, that is enough for today. Cheers BenJ

Bugger! I was a day too late. Coming down tommorow to pick up a few odds'n'ends and was planning on paying a visit to pick'n'payless. Would have enjoyed going shopping with yourself and Paulmac, especially with that keen eye of his.

Nice going guys, good scores all round! Pauls car looks bloody nice with the new wheels.
You didn't happen to see if there was any EL Fairmonts sitting around while you were travelling around the playroom

RD,
I untied our 3 when I got home, have to leave a little more water next time [now that it's getting warmer]. Don't use nylon rope though, it stretches in the heat. Thanks for the compliment re the Futura, we'll be sad to part with such a great 'Wednesday' car but the factory T5 ED wagon is the wife's pick, purely for practicality. As soon as the EL engine goes in it, we'll be joining the wagoneers, the other challenge will be to get my EB2 Fairmont auto sedan running as well as Ben's red car did with its EL engine. The fact that we loaded so much booty into Ben's wagon with room to spare wasn't lost on me either. LOL Mick, it was honors even at the playroom with BenJ spotting some very nice items very early but I came home with a late burst and bargains were had by all. Ben was even the cause of us finding the wheels, if he hadn't dropped a ratchet which we returned to find we would have missed them. They wheeled them in and we wheeled them out, very quickly. Ben's wagon is coming along very nicely and will be a remarkable transformation of a 'cheapie' very soon, a 'sleeper' with style. Ben and family, as always, I had a great time and really appreciated the company and assistance in fitting that water pump. You both made that long trip very enjoyable, although I may remind you BenJ that you now own a T5 yourself and I do like to drive my own car now and again, no matter how many nice things you say about it. If Mick and RD are going to join you AND SNAP on a hunting trip, I'll have to come down too, if only as the kindly grandfather figure to keep you rogues under some control!! Hope Troyman doesn't get wind of this, I'll have to get there the day before to have any hope against you lot and him too! Congratulations on a well planned resto/mod of the wagon, it's good to drive now so I'm really looking forward to the next big transplant and upgrades. Once again, thanks for a great time and I promise to never question your choice of pizza again!! LOL Cheers, Mac

Not that BenJ needs any reminding, he was there when we bought it, this is the ED T5 wagon we're about to start modding.
It is a very nice looking starting point. Cheers, Mac You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Good scores.... Put the prices up!!!!
Man, wish I was in Aussie. A place where you can buy full exhausts affordably... A place where you can get decent mags at a pick-a-part operation... A place where the dollar isn't going backwards... But, most importantly, a place that gives you $$$ to convert your own car to LPG. |

Is the Pic n Pay wreckers the big one out near Blacktown? I used to stop in there on my way back from Orange. It had little turnstiles there like in a supermarket but you had to put the coin in to get through? All the e series falcons etc from memory were about half way down on the left??
Sorry, back on topic now... Ben your wagon is getting better and better. Should go a lot better with the newer 6 in it with the extractors etc. |
