G'day Lads,

Picked up this ED Futura 5.0L recently for my wife 8-) It's a country car and only has 145k on it.
It appears to have been looked after by the original owner but whoever had it next treated it not so well and smoked like a C*** in it...it stinks inside but is very original all round. It has cruise, abs and the engine even has the original ignition leads and still had the rubber boot over the dizzy. I reckon the sump has been off and not put back properly because the gasket has been pushed out. It runs mint and the auto shifts good plus it has the extra oil cooler. It's got the 4 pin open centre 3.27 diff which means it's nearly impossible not to spin the wheel on take off. It's got the original exhaust which is ridiculously quiet and coupled with the clutch fan makes it nearly impossible to tell if it's a V8!?
The suspension ain't so good with 3 shocks leaking and maybe a dodgy tie end or rack causing a bit of bump steer. It's going in for a camber/castor kit,Bilstiens and lowering by about a metre!? So the guy's will sort any other suspension probs at the same time.
I've already done the mandatory heave-ho of the hot plate and dizzy boot.
It's got a 3DFA so heaps of tuning ability there with my trusty 1/4 horse. Got some EF fans to go on too.
I'm going to do all the bolt-ons and post the performance as I go. The aim is to do everything external to the long engine. So the most I'll do is 65mm t-body and headers but nothing inside the engine.
I base lined it on the weekend with a best of 15.93 @ 86mph by slowly taking off then nailing it. 0-60mph came up in 7.67secs.

Thanks Fairlane dude.
I've already got underdrives and some other bits on the way too. The lowering will be completed today too.

Yeah it's a bit unusual. We looked at heaps of cars before this and most had rust lurking or were a bit rough and they wanted more money!?

Yep, we now have 4 V8 cars in the family. So I was successful in getting rid of the last non V8 piece-o-s**t that we had

Ash mentioned this car to me Pete.
What a tidy example of an E-series 5.0..!!
Look forward to seeing it progress.
