Cheers Brizey, should start a build thread on the XR... if your keeping it for more than a month I've been around your AU to know what looks best, this is by far the best dash so far I will, picked it up yesterday, left at 10 got home at 7pm, crazy roadtrip, and I think this one if going to stay around for a long while yet very impressed with the VCT motors |

Got the keys programmed to the B.E.M today, 1 little stuff up, i forgot that you need 2 keys which was a problem because i only got 1 with the car, so it went from $80 to $250 (new 2nd key + getting it cut)
So total cost for the dash conversion is $500 which im pretty happy with , all thats left now its the front door trims+wiring, 4 power window switches(iv made a offer on a set) H loom and cruise control Love the headlight delay all ready, didn't realise the headlight switch was backlit, also nearly all the globes behind the climate control are blown , just plugged in the ambient temp senser and it works apparently its 11 degress... Are the lights behind the traction control/rear dimister etc. backlit?, none of my 4 buttons are... Cheers Cam

cd player re installed, iv replaces most of the blown dash lights, 3 to go, i have to say its a pain in the a** finding the right globes, Supercheap tried to sell me the wrong globe, Repco only had 1 of the 8 globes i needed and the 2 different ford dealers i tried wern't all that much better, although i did buy 2 Subaru globes because they were $5 instead of $20 each cruise control and power window switches are still on the go... Cheers Cam

Au's defiantly had a lot f nice touches like that and the window switch illumination etc.

They would want to be backlit too, it would be very odd if the Forte/Future dash buttons were backlit and the high-end ones weren't..
Your car's looking bloody good fourL6

ordered a set of front rotors today, mine are beyond machining lol... should be in tomorrow morning. i just got some cheap protex rotors from super cheap auto for just under $100 a pair. I see a few members have used them with no complaints, their half the price of DBA rotors. part number is DR502 for future reference
Cheers Cam

With the BA airbag hooked up to the AU the airbag light flashes... (im not to bothered because i plan to refit the BA dash but this time include engine and wiring which will fix this prob) 2. AU indicators and wiper stalks becaome quite a distance from the steering wheel (i'v added pics below of how i fitted BA stalks to the AU steering column) 3. buttons dont work but i havnt tried (i dont have cruise and i have a alpine headunit so the volume control didnt work anyway) Before After 1. Removing your AU steering wheel (a heap of threads on how to do that are floating around) 2. remove the clock spring by pressing in the 3 clips and sliding it forward (very gently and be careful not to rotate it) 3. Remove two screws and that metal plate on the right you should now be able to pull the AU stalk out of the steering column be careful not to lose the two little ball bearings that come flying out, now fit your new BA indicator stalk and srew the metal plate back in 4 Remove the 3 screws that hold the plastic stalk housing onto the steering column slide it forword and the left stalk is pretty much the same as the right except the 2 screw are at the back not front and it pivots horizontally not vertically, you also have to cut the adjustable wipers wires (the only two running up the stalk if it is a sedan/ute) then reconnect them to the BA Stalk (wires are the same colour) 5. once both BA stalks are fitted slide the housing back on, screw it in then gently slide the clock spring back on 6. Fit the BA steering Wheel 7. connecting the horn, wiring as pictured below (Black to Black, Grey to Purple Final Product Any chance you could fix up the photos on this post? It be nice to have a look... And when is the BA Engine conversion going to happen? |

And when is the BA Engine conversion going to happen? ba engines been put on hold for a while, the AUs become the misses daily so it cant be of the road for more than a weekend... and yeah ill have a go at fixing the photos... if your looking at fitting a B series wheel to a au or e series, talk to Kenay, i sold my ba aigbag and wheel to him and he managed to fit the EL airbag inside the BA airbag cover (to sort out the airbag light issues) and get the cruise buttons working
