8-) "SUCCESS" 8-) The LPG Blow-off valve has passed it's final test  The Lane backfired on the missus for the first time today and she said it didn't miss a beat. Normally the engine cuts out and you open the bonnet to find the engine bay in a big mess :? Didn't cut out, and when I got home from work and she told me about it, I checked under the hood to find everything where it should be :D Even the new spring clips I had bought were still all there and clipped on.
To top the day, I also came home to find my new EL Leather T-Bar s**t handle had arrived, so it was straight out to the garage, made up a new centre shaft out of a tent peg and had it fitted in no time. Stay tuned, I'm on a roll and it's nearly bonus time at work + tax refund time :D I can feel a mod fest commin on!

Nice.

Now all you need to do is change the shifter stem for an EF/EL one and you have a shortened shifter.

I might just have one laying around you can have.

"WOW" What a difference a new set of leads can make. I pulled out the old set of Top Gun's shown hear looking very tired indeed
Image
and replaced them with a set of these babies
Image
The lane is now running sweet as :D Idling nice and smooth on both fuel and LPG, it idled like a pig previously on gas. And it is just generally running a lot smoother with better throttle responce and more power. Lovin it!
Now changing the leads in a 5.0L with extractors and LPG is no easy feat, but it helps if you have a set of ramps and a trolley
Image
Now the right bank is pretty straight forward, but the left is a damn b**ch. No. 1 & 2 cylinders have to be accessed from under the car
Image
and 3 & 4 are just a b**ch trying to squeeze your fingers in between the extractors to get to the leads
Image
Whilst I was under there I noticed that the heat shield on the exhaust had copped a bit of a beating since being lowered and there was a big chunk that had been torn off and was just hanging there.
Image
Image
And after numerous questions about what diff I am running, I can finally answer the question with confidence, thought I would check that whilst I was under there as well. It's a 327 LSD :D Now hopefully that will be the end of my little backfiring issue, but as you would have read earlier, I have protection for that as well  Just in case

haha! The 8 has it's advantages, just a b**ch to service

Hoping to get down there again soon. I managed to get a week off work for the first week of the school holidays, so I might try and get down next friday. Have to pick up my chrome shifter from BuNtEr (remember him, he's still kickin, despite the wishes of some on here :P ) so I have another excuse for a trip south. :D
Cheers,
Mick

I did a bit of scanning over the past couple of days of some of the old fords I have owned. I made up a thread and put up a few pics to give a bit of a story of how I came to get to the old Lane.
After the recent Koala Park car show, I was walking around with BenJ taking a few photo's and I reckon I must have sounded like a bit of a s**t spinner  I kept saying "I had one of these", "you shoulda seen it" lol.
Well here ya go ben, I finally pulled my finger out and scanned in some pics. Enjoy!

Well! I have just ticked off another mod. And a very important one at that
The Lane now sounds like a V8 should thanks to a custom 2 1/4" Mandrel bent system with 6 Hotdogs fitted into the system to give it a very unique, deep crisp note. Combined with the EL GT extractors, the Lane sounds friggin awesome, now I just have to do something about that diff ratio  The mods just keep comin, but I wouldn't have it any other way :D
A couple of pics during the installation

Must give credit to Eric from Carline mufflers in Belmont. Did an excellent job on the installation and was more than happy to do a custom setup to get the result I was after.
Cheers,
Mick

I have fallen in love with your exhaust. I need something like this on mine. I'll go and visit Carline Belmont on Thursday and see if old mate can do something like this. Dead set, this is a very sweet sound you have from your Fairlane!!!

Sorry mate, she's taken  Nah! Seriously, you won't be dissapointed if you get him to make up another custom set-up similar to mine. The sound I achieved is quite unique. Will be interesting to compare it with Castlegreyskulls, as it is his system that I got the idea from.
Cheers,
Mick
