there was only 1 wire from the ignition to the bcm. is this all that I would have to reconnect?

I think the biggest issue is smartlock you can get a by pass for where I don't think they have one out their for smartshield, and it requires a coded key, they'res the possibilty of doing what was thought of earlier on for smartlock bypass having a secondary barrel tucked away switched to on. to obvisously avoid ruining the interior. although as as been suggested a way to flash it, like used on barra conversion into the early models. Although, I'm not the most knowledgeable on this sort of area.

i just had a read through that thread you posted and he dosent really say how it was bypassed, all he said was you need to no the right people

been a bit slow atm, trying to get renos to my house finished before christmas and we close up shop at work for 4wks on 16th of Dec so trying to get everything finished up then too. Should have some more updates closer to chrissy though HOPEFULLY!! Will keep you updated

Well been a bit slow lately but finally got a bit of progress on the old girl
few more updates lately. got the bay blasted the other day so I can begin getting the engine in (to give me some more room in my shed haha)   bay came up really good, Only rust that I found was in the lower rad support section but I already knew about that bit. So my mate who is a far better welder then me made me up a new front and back section and we welded it all in   then we painted the bay. I know I was going to keep the car original colour but I really really wanted a metallic sort of colour and after alot different ideas I decided to go with the xy teal glow colour and im so glad I did. its come up a treat. Keeps it an original xy colour to but a bit more flashy haha   and cleared     and thats it for now, hopefully this wkend I can get the power steering and engine setup and everything in and have a bit more of an update. |

Man, I cant wait to see the progress on this.
I love the idea of new tech in an old car. And its a Panel van TOO!! Which makes it 10x cooler IMHO!

I had an XC Sundowner. Even had the small rear bubble windows and full shag-pile the whole way round the trunk.
Oh, and a '68 Mini Panel van - but thats a whole other story.

Sooo first full day on the van today in a while so I was pumped to get as much done as possible. Started early and got the rack in quickly. Looks really good in there   Everything was going great. Till I went to put the damn engine in The starter motor hits on the rack so it had to be removed and I have to look at ways to either lower the rack more or forget about it and put the original back in The aircon pump also hit real hard on the shock tower. Even with some "gentle" massaging with a mallet it still had no chance  so now ive got a freshly painted bay. With a mashed shock tower and no aircon Thats where I gave up for the day and left It. Looking into different pumps over the wkend and see what I can find. It's in tho and that's a start

Yep always helps hey haha. I was pretty bummed out when I left the shed today but the more I think about it now the more happy I am that it's all in there. Also rather then being frustrated I've had a few ideas that I have to try haha

Wow! this build is great! envy envy envy... but I gotta say, you must be the luckiest fellah alive the purchases you've made, I mean, any XY is sooo hard to get these days - but vans were hard to get even in the 80's... follow that with an XP coupe, another XY, the crashed 2k XR8, and the promo XY front with lotsa neat bits on it, you've done amazingly well! Don't let the holdups bum you out, I tend to go for a long bike ride or even a sleep and think it through the next day..many times at work the next day or riding the bike you have that `aha!' moment where all becomes clear.. keep going, mate, like everyone else, I cannot wait to see how this comes out. There's an XY van I see occasionally round my way, purple, built up like a GT, looks unreal..
