I was under the impression that 304 s/s was for food, like bench tops, and 18/8 & 18/10 for food utensils.????? Theres that many grades of the stuff

yer all the 18 grades are still a build on 318 which is a fanny hair better than 316 depending on what grades. still any stainless finished improperly won't resist corrosion well.
i think the right angle braces are there for towing but perhaps later realised they were 'overkill' ? have no idea to be honest lol

Its been awhile since I did anything to the car, but I have just completed making a tool to hold onto the pistons ,that I want to use, so as to hold them at the correct angle to machine a valve relief into the crown of the piston.
The pistons are BA LPG ones, and need to put relief in them to suit a 2 valve SOHC head. You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

I've started machining the valve reliefs into the crowns of the pistons. So far, so good, its working out. As by the pics, you can see I'm doing it in the lathe.

OK....its been awhile since I have done anything to the car.
I've been building a 28 spline 4 pinion LSD for the ED using 3.27 gears. I'm going to use my EA lower arms in the ED, so I made some spacers to do this. I used aluminium with 316 S/Steel inserts as anti-crush tubes. I pressed the s/s inserts into the alloy as I made them with a 0.25mm interference fit. The lip part of the s/s inserts face outwards, so the alloy cannot be forced outwards away from the face of the bushes in the trailing arms. These spacers are for the front, where they mount onto the body. I already have the ones for the rear. You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Started on puting my diff & brakes on the rear today. It is an EBII housing, axles ( 28 spline ), EA calipers & rotors, and an after market 28 spline 4 pinion LSD centre.
All bearings and seals were replaced. I fitted my EA upper & lower trailing arms too, with adapter/spacers to fit. I'm using Penrite Limslip 140 oil. While I was at it, I scrubbed the wheel wells out and painted them gloss black and sprayed Techtyl in the seams. You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

I fitted the brakes from the EA on it now....ready to be bled, rotate the tyres, get a wheel alignment, and drive it. The gears are now 3.27 instead of the 3.08's it had before.
The next big job will be to put the manual in from the EA...and the wiring harness, ECU, pedal box, etc...... You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
