Sounds good, was going to get a AU bellhousing for my EB to AU Conversion, though not many people sell them and one's at Upullit are a b**ch to remove, though good thing is finding stuff like a AU trans pan with a drain plug on it :P.

OK, so I looked around at all the different versions of the Firewall reinforcing plate, and decided to have a go at one of my own. I drew up a few ideas, and spoke to our machine shop about making it for me. They threw my idea in the bin and went and got this.

After a bit of time on the computer, and even less time on the CNC mill, we had this.

Thanks mate,
It does look cool. Unfortunately, the guys can no longer make these for me - believe me, I've had plenty of requests - as they are just to busy with the mills now to do any small jobs. Bummer, but that's life i suppose.
Cheers,
8-)

Hey man, great write up! How hard was it to remove the rear screen? I've got to remove mine and check for rust/re-seal it as water pools on that little back parcel tray (the piece you've cut to extend the cabin). Also have to do my windscreen which sucks, but never mind...

Sorry for the late reply - must have missed this one. :)

I found an easy way to remove the rear windscreen - put a fence post through it.

These screens are glued in, so you would have to "cut" it out, almost like a front screen. The plastic cover panel pops off quite easily, but if you need both screens out, maybe see if a windscreen place can come do it for you - much quicker and a lot less mess, as you can guarantee you will break the front screen, but the rear is toughened glass, and shouldn't be too bad.

And yes, the rear screen is different to an XD-F rear screen. They changed to the glued-in style mid-way thru the XG. The later glass is slightly bigger to suit the glued-in design.

A quick note - make sure you have painted and sealed all the metal before you fit either screen, as any exposed metal - even scratches - can cause more rust.

Hope this helps.

Good luck. 8-)

Ok, so the old XH is up for sale, and has been replaced with am '03 BA XR8 260 ute - pics to come.

If anyone wants a cool XH ute, with Au engine, T5, 17" Prowlers, good tyres, no rust, etc, let me know. The paint is not much chop, but it is rust free, mostly straight, and most things still work. It needs a few things, mostly a good tune up and a clean, but is still a good honest ute. It has just been de-rego'd, and you can get your own RWC, and take it away for $1500. 8-)

It will be sad to see it go, as I have owned it since 2002, but it needs time that I don't have, and I have too many cars anyway. If it doesn't sell, I may just part it out, and keep the wheel, etc for a rainy day.

Car is located near Beaudesert, Qld, and can deliver a reasonable distance for an agreed price.
