Much appreciated... Was looking at an EF/EL the other day and appears they have another vac connection on the top BBM that the AU doesn't have drilled out... It is on the opposite side to the throttle body and is just in front of no4 runner... I am thinking this is for the MAP seeing as the AU doesn't have a MAP and coincidently doesn't have this vac port drilled too? Can someone with an EF/EL confirm this for me please? If so then I'll be chasing an EF/EL upper BBM which should be fairly easy to post as compared to the whole manifold... Cheers, Tim

yes. you are correct, that extra vac port on the outer side is for the e series map sensor.

the au one that came with the head... I can't see any differences with that section of it...

there is... the au has a different air temp sensor/ tmap..
so the e series ait wont fit in the au manifold... if its a series 1 au manifold you can drill and tap the thread for the ait sensor, but series 2 and 3 dont have the casting for the sensor.. |

Yeah that is in the top section... So when I get an EF/EL upper I'll have the right hole...
I must have a series 1 upper then... As it has a hole there for that funny sensor... Plus two small screws that hold it in... I was going to drill and tap the hole, but then realised I needed that other vac connection for the map which the AU upper doesn't have so now I can't use it regardless... The bottom section of the BBM seems to have no holes for any sensors... But it is only the MAP and temp in the manifold on the ED so they are both on the upper manifold I need to replace... For the sake of reference: The MAP sensor port that is missing... Cheers, Tim

sorry, disregard that... the ait its in the upper manifold under the throttle body..
so a ef or ef upper is all you need.. |

More bits today...
Big thanks to Ash who fulfilled the larger majority of the list of bits to acquire... So now have... Dipstick Throttle Pedal Throttle Cable Airbox Upper Au intake piping to TB All AU vac lines And ebay specials was an SS inductions intake and airbox lower... This thing is gi-normus... Not even sure if it'll fit under the bonnet as yet... Looking to have found the upper BBM now... Occurred to me the other day that I'll need an EF/EL top radiator hose too so will source that one... Couple of O rings for the water pipes... A gasket or two... Some odds and ends George has tracked down for me... And am waiting for them to arrive... Getting there... Slowly... Cheers, Tim

Considering the distance between us... All your stuff turns up super fast... Ok question... Just trial fitted the lower EF/EL airbox and due to being wider it sits really hard up against the large AC pipe that drops down to the compressor... Does someone have a fix for this? Can I retrofit a later pipe? This section unbolts just before it ducks around behind the bumper, unbolts off the compressor and off the TX valve... Issue being I am going to stay with the three belt set up because it makes more sense to me... The EF/EL tensioner system is a POS... Thing wears out and goes C**k eyed... And this way if I break a belt I have a half a hope of getting somewhere still (depending which belt obviously)... So pretty sure the compressor bolts on lower on the three belt arrangement? Would be nice to fit an AU system onto the car Due to them being a better system deleting the TX valve and using that orifice... Still may be possible to mount the compressor higher and use a slightly longer belt as long it doesn't go too high and cause the bottom of the belt to hit the tensioner... Ash.... Can you please provide me with some detailed photos of one fo your AU's please? So I can see all the pipework, compressor, TX valve, high/low cut out switch, etc etc... Just to help me sort of what I'll do... Can always get custom hoses made up I suppose... This may get me some better air con too this way... Seeing as though the poor old compressor is a tad noisy nowadays... Cheers, Tim
