Tim, I've been using fibre glass impregnated filler - Septone stuff IIRC.

Works well, and pretty strong.

So this stuff will glue plastic to plastic? Or is really just designed to fill a whole?

Thinking it'd be easiest to plastic weld the basic thing and then fill the gaps and sand down... That sound to be the fairly std way of doing it?

Cheers,
Tim

I'd only use it as a filler, use araldite or similar to glue plastics together.

. . . . provided you prep the surface before applying.

ahhh yes... preparation...

anything special or just the usual clean and grease free? Same for filler? No special prep you guys do?

Anybody know what sort of catch code an AU 2 manual VCT computer is likely to have? :?Not really familiar with my AU computers...

Cheers,
Tim

I normally just use metho to clean down - thinners might soften the plastic, but you can test on a scrap piece. Both filler and glue need a non shiny surface, so rough it up a bit if it is glossy.

Well it's closer than ever I guess...

A quick (long) trip to Tallarook on Sunday resulted in the purchasing of a whole AU car minus the car basically...

For my AU wiring conversion I now have an AU VCT Series II Motor with 104kms on it, manual VCT computer to suit, full dash for wiring, full engine bay harness, full engine harness, full computer harness, full body harness, header tank, thermos, AC lines, so most of the main stuff that makes it all work... Couple of odds and ends to chase up yet...

Most of it will be fairly straight forward which is good... Just working on the data line side of things now for the NL cluster... I doubt the AU computer will provide the data output for the NL cluster, but piggy backing an EF ECU shouldn't involve much one would think? It should be a matter or power, earth, temp in, crank and cam in and it should provide the required data out to drive the NL cluster yeah? :?

It will be good but... Will be basically all just AU wiring and all the extra stuff I incorporate which I have since forgotten what I did or how I did it will be std AU (things like the variable int wirpers)... Plus it run smartshield imbolisation and such too... Plus the AU wiring is so much better, deleting the hundred thousand under dash plugs on the ED and using a couple of those big connectors with the cam handle... makes it so much easier looking...

Will be making it up in our spare ED for the time being and moving some wiring around to suit the subtle differences...

Cheers,
Tim
