oh i designed the EB series chasis when i was a baby
since i have been relocating the loom well replacing with EF which run through the guard, i noticed my NC actually has the circle for the loom location but its not cut, and seeing that your panel is different it would mean series 1. also chatting to benJ he was telling me that EBII onwards share alot of things with the EF, such as the bracket on the floor to bolt the dash to that the EBI doesnt have. its the small details i take note of as you never know when the info will be useful |

The white Xr8 is a series 1 EB, and i have my EB Ghia which is series 2, and the red Xr8 is also series 2, so i can compare the differences in them. The wiring looms are very different, and the is minor differences in the series 2 shell, like all the holes for the ABS pipe work & wiring, the parcel shelf is slightly different for the middle seatbelt, and so on. I didn't know the one about the dash - i didn't pay that much attention when i wrecked the series 1 eb Fairmont Ghia before xmas last year lol. Anyway, i need to get back into the shed for a couple more hours, tools to clean, parts to organize. Cheers ToranaGuy

I was on the way home from a bbq at my mums place today for easter, and the steering become very heavy. I pulled over thinking i've thrown the belt, nope, it's still there, but got a bit of a scare when i got back into the car. On the carpet is a whole heap of needle rollers from a bearing. The steering column's bottom bearing had s**t itself!
Anyway, i have a couple of spare columns in the shed, as you do, so i got to work removing mine, and swapping the ignition lock from mine to the one i was going to fit. It still has the leather wrapped wheel on it too, which is a bonus. I've fit the column and i'm currently waiting on smartlock to do it's thing to memorize the code from the new ignition barrel. Attachment: P1010010.JPG There's supposed to be a bearing in there, but it's long gone, only a little of the race is left. Ah well, i guess you get that after 420,000kms! Last night after cleaning some tools i decided i would get a little more work done on installing my 2nd amp into the EB Ghia, as everything else i needed to do was going to be too loud, can't annoy the neighbors too much. I fit my rca splitters behind the head unit & i have run the rca lead under the carpet to where the amp will be. There's been an amp here before, as the carpet is strategically cut to allow cables thru. So i used that. I have also run a trigger wire from the amp in the boot to under the passenger seat to trigger it to turn on. It got late enough after doing that, that i decided to give up for the night. Tonight, after i get smartlock sorted & get the car started again, i might run the power wire from near my distro block under the dash to under the passenger seat, but not hook it up just yet so it's not live. I should probably also run some speaker cable runs from under the seat into position for hooking into the speakers looms as well. Will have to see how i go. I've been wanting to get some more work done on my brackets to hold the amp down, but i can't borrow an oxy to heat the steel to bend it, so i might do it in sheet metal instead, something i can work with hand tools. It's an issue i wouldn't wish on anyone, that's for sure. I'm just lucky i had a couple of spares and that it didn't leave me on the side of the road lol. Cheers ToranaGuy

I tempted fate today, pulled my gearbox out (T5) to do the clutch. Far out, i had forgotten how big of a job it is on a falcon! I found my pivot point was in the bottom of the bellhousing, the clutch fork's damper has movement in it & the throw out bearing has a lot of wear in it.
Top it off, the pressure plate (clutch cover to some) bolts were not all that tight. Pressure plate & clutch plate were not anywhere near as badly worn as i expected to find, and the flywheel even looks good. I have a spare recently machined flywheel anyway. I'm glad i bought a replacement clutch fork as well, but boy do ford charge for them! Over $200 it cost. Anyway, it's lunch time, so i better eat, then figure out if i need locktite on the pivot bolt to stop it coming out... Cheers ToranaGuy

BenJ wrote: Boy Oh Boy, does that sound somewhat familiar LOL Hope it all goes back together nicely. Cheers BenJ Thanks dude. I remember you writing something in your build thread alone the same lines. I stuck a little locktite on the thread for the pivot, hopefully it won't vibrate out. Thread's were all ok, so it didn't pull out. New bits went in, i used my brand new clutch alignment tool to align it all up, that went fairly easily. Manhandled the gearbox back into place, bolted it all up. Spent ages screwing around with fitting the starter motor, cracked the s**t & stopped for 2 burbons. My mate from down the road, muncher2002 on here, rocked up, had another burbon with him, then got to fitting of the bits up. I'm hunting in the shed for a new extractor to cat gaskit, i also found the old one was leaking badly, probably throwing the o2 sensor into a fit too. If i can't find the gaskit, i know i have one somewhere around here, i'll just clean the old one & stick some sealant on it. Anyway, i better get of the shedputer and finish looking for that gaskit. That's why my location says * In the Shed *, and I'm in the shed on my mac g3 with osX & firefox, with cat5 cable running back to my switch in the rumpas room. I'll have the job finished soon. Then it's time to clean up, pack up & take it for a test drive. Cheers ToranaGuy

Test drive went well, all is good. New clutch is great, nice & light, very grippy as well. Bloody hell it was a big job, but I'm glad it's done now. Where's my camera? I had a couple of pics on there.
Cheers ToranaGuy

BenJ wrote: Excellent news!! Yes, it is a big job. Quite tiresome for us 'mature' blokes lol. Cheers BenJ It was a tiresome job, that is for sure. Even for me, not as 'mature' as some of the great modders on here. But once it come around to burbon oclock & i had a drink to relax a little it was all good. While was was under the car i had a good look at my front bar & passenger side skirt. Both have cracking underneath that will require them to come off to be fixed. My plastic shifter surround that sits into the console has also cracked & broken a locating leg off. I'll have to have a go at fixing that too. I drove the car upto the pickles auctions yesterday in heavy morning traffic with muncher2002 onboard, to go "have a look" only, and the car drove so nicely, which is a great feeling after such a big job on it. The light at the end of the tunnel wasn't a freight train coming my way this time. Cheers ToranaGuy

I honestly don't find it heavy at all. It shocks me how light it is. Cheers ToranaGuy You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
