ok thanks.....

anyway
mounting the coils over the fuel rail option was a good one but after i made a bracket and mounted it.. :evil: the lead plugs were touching the bonnet brace..
then i tried mounting it over the rear of the fuel rail.. unfortunatly i then couldnt put the pipework on..lol
so i opted to go with mounting the coil packs on the drivers side shock tower..
ive re fitted the factory heat sheild over the extractors and i might make a little one to sheild the coils?? maybe...
ive also mounted the ems coil igniter on the firewall where the factory map senser lived..
on the down side the clip that holds the coil pack loom plug broke.. so now the wires wont stay on..
so now i need to get another au coil pack plug.. and tidy up the leads somehow..

i still got to remove the dizzy,coil and put the au oil pump drive in the place of the dizzy..
also got to connect the crank sensor..
ive been told i dont need the sync/cam sensor as im running batch fire with wasted spark , but
im going to run the wires from the cam sensor to the sync input anyway(just in case)..
more tomorrow!!!

Looks good Troy, Bummer about not fitting above the Fuel rail, looked good there. Should be able to get plug fittings for the leads and shorten them.

yea it did look good there...
and even though i made a bracket to put it in the factory spot, there was something in my head telling me this wasnt really a good idea..
im still a bit concerned about the heat from the exhaust but i think i might cut up an au heat sheild and use it on the coils aswell..

well its official...
imo... running wasted spark on coilpacks with boost is rubbish!!!
total waste of time and money... oh well :roll: :|
the car didnt perform as well and i had spark blow out at 8psi... :?
and the spark from the coils was strong!!
so out with the new and in with the old.lol.. back to dizzy now and there is more go and no spark blow out.. :? :?

What is SPARK BLOW OUT in your meaning Troy?

Figured spark blow out could be cured by making sure you're running a cool enough plug and reducing the gap slightly. Also, spark blow out is more common on rotor (dizzy) set ups?...

Is the little machine you have doing a job similar to a MSD or something --- Ie, it replaces the single spark with multiple pulses?

Hmmm...

I guess your definition of spark blow out could be different to whatever I am thinking of... You are talking about the "wasted" spark created by firing cylinders 1 and 6 off the same coil when 1 is on the correct stroke and 6 is on the exhaust stroke?

What are the symptoms? Is there something like a whole heap of shotguns going off down your new tailpipe?

Hate to see a good coil pack go to waste...

spark blow out means that under boost the pressure actually blows the spark out, kind of like blowing a candle out...= breaking down and popping out the exhaust..
and yes it had this issue originally with the dizzy but was fixed by closing the plug gap to .8mm..
when i fitted the coil pack it shouldnt of had this issue..
running wasted spark is firing 1 and 6 together, 2 and 5 then 3 and 4,,
in theory 1 coil for 2 cylinders should be better than 1 coil firing 6 cylinders??..
at first i though maybe the coil pack was buggered but when removing the supercharger belt= no boost the ran fine all the way through the rev range:?
maybe there is another reason but sometimes its better to just leave it alone..
whats the old saying ? if it aint broke dont fix it..lol...

All EF & AU run wasted spark coil packs, ie spark on compr=ession as well as exhaust stroke. So what about the guys with Turbo / Charged EF and AU's. Got any anwser guys?

its a bit of a strange one that!!!
there is obviously guys running std coil packs with boost with no apparent problems..
it was fine untill about 8 psi then it would just die in the a**..

Okay, that's what I figured too... But how come converting back to a dizzy would cure it?

Well well well. That is an eye opener. You should be getting a lean reading out of the O2 sensor I guess --- No spark would mean no petrol burn which would lead to a "lean" reading on the O2.... So, what are the symptoms you're getting again? It just dies when you hit 8psi, right? Isn't there a whole heap of people with boost of more than 8psi running the EF / AU wasted spark operation? What is your theory on the "hotter" or "cooler" spark plugs, you reckon that would be worth looking at? Ah well... Wish I was you with your problems...... :D
