New to the forum, not much of computer tech person but need some help in this department.

Ive got a au xr8 which I've recently rebuilt the engine with a dart block, stroked it and got lil vortex blower on it. Engine got all the goodies in it only problem now I need a aftermarket ECU

Been told go haltec premium. Install n tuned 3000/3500 bucks

Just wanting to know what have people used?

Do I need to spend all this money on a ECU?
The car only got 49000 kays on it so hardly gets driven and it'll never see any track time.

Any feed back will be great. Finding any info on modified au xr8s is quite challenging loll

Take a look at the Moates Quarterhorse J3 Chip.

I know Troy. is using it on his blown 5.0 AU XR8 and others use it as well.

Best bet is to go with whatever your tuner is comfortable with.

Ye I've just been reading up about those chips. The car already had a sct flash tune previously. A few tuners though have told me to stay away from the chips n go all out on ecu. Do u know who tunes Troy car?
Ye I'm gonna most likey go to haltech which EA recommended it's just a lot of money to fork out but I think it be worth it in the end. Just wouldn't mind hearing from people who've done the upgrade and if it worth it

I had the AU2 ECU flash tuned with a custom tune for about $1600 (incl the new XCAL2). The guy tuning it preferred this method rather than the Moates chip (which he says can come loose).

Troy tuned the Moates chip himself.
