i have a manual 5 speed in my 6 cyl falcon but am still running the auto ecu is that ok???????????i bought a manual ecu from the wreckers but the engine wont fire any suggestions can some one please help!!!!!!!!!

what moddle is your falc and what moddle comp did you get.

ah, some wiring needs to be done here,
you need to trick the ecu into thinking that it is in neutral so that you bypass the neutral safety switch i have a bit of ilding problems in my ef, (same as yours yeah?) idles high but it does start up fine. used some resistors and a gregories type manual to guide me through the wiring diagrams

What model falcon is yours and what model falcon did the other ecu come from?? the later e series falcons have smartlock eg( eb 2 and up) and the earlier dont..(ea and eb1) so the later ecu's wont work on the early cars ... unless you have smartlock.... |

my car is a 95 ef falcon it idles at about 1000 rpm at lights but when sitting long enough comes down to where it should 650 to 700 rpm i bought a xr6 ecu from the wreckers which was an au also a 6 cyl manual when fitted the xr6 ecu the engine turns but wont fire do i have to get the xr6 ecu remaped or is it safe to use the auto ecu.

im running auto ecu like u r.
does the same thing so im getting a manual ecu annoys the f**k outa me. a few peopel r running auto ecu's ith the resistor mod thingo. dunno about the au ecu but?

i disconnected my idle speed controller so it would idle properly. got tired of it reving to 2 grand when i wanted to engine brake

an au ecu wont work in an ef the best way is to do the resistor trick I have sent you a pm if you need a hand

use this doco here just go to jaycar and get the resistors I used the old wires from the cannon plug and soldered the resistors to them you will know iif you have done it right because if not the thermos will run as soon as you start the car http://justfordima.koolhost.com/EFELaut ... ersion.htm It will take a couple of days for it to idle properly but after that it will work fine.I found it would drop revs every now and then but works well until you find a manual ecu
