need proccedure for diagnostic chart codes in max ellerys el manual with a circuit tester i used to do it in Ford EA`s now i hav`nt got a clue with a EL

say if i crossed circut tester - with ENG GND and ENG STO with the + end (would i get a proper flash reading for a code?)
note: I havnt tested the theory because i think its wrong.

i really need to find out whats going on with my mums car
there is got to be a way of finding out whats stuffed up in my mums car (without scantool)
Thats why i need directions with a circut tester what to cross to get the codes

symptoms wth car
spark 1 time now no spark replaced tfi and spark and no spark
and coil is brand new

going to replace distributor hope that helps.
