1) Just wondering what would happen if you told EEC the selector was in D? Theory suggests it would increase idle slightly.
2) I think there's an airbag diagnostic test in the tech docos on this site, clearing codes usually related to this process so may be worth a look. 3) Yeah that's the Trans Temp Link doing that. ECU is actually under the impression that trans is overheating - so it decides to cool the engine. Cough. lol. Seriously though, have a look thru some recent threads here as i posted a link to FF.com where someone had sorted all this out for the V8 ecu. You seem like you know your stuff so shouldnt be too hard to adapt for 6 cyl eec. 4) Good luck with that one So, happy now you've gotten rid of the slushomatic?

I've also got an issue with the 5spd gearbox, its a little sticky and wont go into gears often.
It will pass the synchro but will not engage the ratio, ie it goes halfway in but wont engage. If you release the clutch it grinds/crunches. I notice the book states you should add some lubrizol or similar additive to the automatic transmission fluid(wtf!!!!) in the manual gearbox. I used dexron III, is this right or is the book confused..? I fixed the thermofans running on full, it was the temp sensor so thank you very much 4.9 EF Futura, you saved me hours of tracing through the circuits... While I was under there I decided its also a wise idea to connect the reverse lights, I forgot them too .... Just for reference, I used a 1.2K ohm resistor for the autotrans thermostat and a 7kohm resistor for the N position. |

You put "auto trans" fluid in your power steering system too It's just an oil like any other. The auto and power steering use it for hydraulic power assistance while the manual I presume uses it for lubrication within the gearbox.

depending on the model the power steering is Mobil 424 stuff...
Also, if EA-ED power steering shudders alot, converting from dexron to mobil 424 will solve the problem |

I know of ATF in power steering systems, most cars use that.
I've just never come across a car that asks for ATF in a manual gearbox... Still need help with the airbag.. I'll make another topic about it and hopefully someone will see it that hasn't read this thread |

there are alot of cars that 'ask' for ATF in the manual gear box. mostly front drive cars. but the T5 in falcons and commodores also take dextron 3 with an additive called lubrizol. |

Hey everyone, im in a simular pradicument, i'v converted my EL XR6 to manual, well my machanic did, the 2 problems i have are
1. the fans are on full blast all the time 2. when starting the car, it jumps up to 2000rpm, then eses back to 1200rpm, then finally back to 1000rpm... I'v heard that using a 1650ohm risister between the trans temp sencer and somthing else will fix the fans and should drop the RPM but i have no idea on how to do this.. does anyone have a diagram on what wires are what... The manual i got was out of a EF XR6 and all i can say is it's dam awsome compaired to the auto it once had. much more go in it now..

if you put 75w 90 in them they get really bad gear bulk when changing gears and basicly become pigs of thing to use. and the 200 000km my T5 has done with dex3 and lubrizol kind of shows that they last a lhell of a long time. any one worth there salt as you so put it, would use what the maker of the box says to use. |

T5's become pig boxes when you use 75W oil, been there done that, upset customers. A lot of 4WD's also use tranny fluid in transfer cases and I am not talking about toy type 4WD's i.e. Subaru, Rav4 etc.
