Called that because EEC is "hunting" for the correct idle. Basically fluctuating revs - up and down and up and down.

Caused byt many things.

eed-250 - i assume you're still running auto ecu? Anything done to trick it?

depends on the car and what's causing it to do it
i.e. if you do a manual conversion and leave the auto ecu in and don't do anything to trick it, it might cause it. one FM1 there was a thread on how to trick the auto ecu which made the car run nice after the conversion

Cant you just get a manual ECU and problem solved.

How much is a manual ECU new and secondhand?

what model is it? Have you tried cleaning the throttle body? Is the base ignition timing set correctly? If it's an EF/EL if the base timming is set to high it will hunt. Also check no one has fiddled with the base idle that will cause it too on EBII-EL.

mate we cant really help you if you dont give us some info
there is a way to trick the ecu into thinkings its in drive by usuing a resistor on to your TRANS TEMP LINE pin on your ecu. Basically the ecu can be tricked by putting a resistor on to the line and dropping it into teh drive voltage range

the resistors in the temp wiring is to stop a EF-l going into limp mode and bringing the idle up and turning the fans on. i dont think a ED has that feature in the P.C.M. i have seen this on some conversions and not on others for some reason. best bet is to put a manual P.C.M in.
