G'day thrillseekers, I am the proud owner of a 1998 EL wagin ( ) and I have had to replace the rubber gasket that surrounds the fuel tank sender.

I bought the car in 2004, and this is the umpteenth (well maybe the 5th or 6th) time I have had to replace this gasket. I must admit that the last time was probably 3 years ago. It is a PITA

It is on gas, and I probably run it on petrol maybe 2 hrs per YEAR

My questions are:

* why is the gasket failing?
*Maybe it is because I don't refresh the petrol every so often?

Anybody shed some light on this???
