hey guys, i have a full fibre glass typhoon rear bar, and i've just joined the front bar up with screws having cut it, but i was looking at the rear and thought i could cut the top off and fibreglass in the the flat part on the top and bolt it on so i wouldn't need to get hold of a spare rear bar,
Thoughts? |

Did you think to ask if he had a Typhoon E series kit, did you check his website...NNNNoooooooooooooooooo you didn't. In less time than it has taken me to type this s**t I found this on his website... http://www.phatcustomkits.com.au/custom ... or-ef.html Same price, lot less work...... Ahhhhh the wisdom of youth...... PS, by the way, you have cut the front bar wrong and you are attaching it the wrong way. and good luck making the rear fit, if you think the front looks like work wait till you get to the rear. also is your brother around, if so ask him to do what he promised me a few years ago. If you want advice on how to salvage your mess let me know and I will see if I am in a good mood |

Attachment: This is the way you cut the Fairmont top half. This retains the mount points. You overlap the joint where the mound fits in and this way the bar has a good joint as well as a smooth finish. Make sure you remove the paint from the bar and rough up the plastic before bonding with urethane. Do the same before fiberglassing and lay down a good base of resin before bonding the glass sheet. Attachment: Front of bar after bonding ad filling Attachment: Side view of bar bonded, see how I have retained the side of the original EF bar, continues the shape of the E series bar. Attachment: Inside of Bar after glassing |

Yes I can see that. And his cracked. mine have been on for 5 years and no issues, no cracks etc, and I have belted it on some driveways. It have take bashes from driveways that would have damaged factory bars. So up to you mate, you know best.

i thought this way would be stronger,
kelvins was jointed as yours were and they're cracked up rather badly which is why i thought i'd try this way so i could have the strenght lower down so that would have less movement up the top |

mitchell big huge massive piece of advice if a person who is knowledgeble is willing to teach you something or talk to you, sit back and LISTEN and if they ask you questions answer them, it only costs you time to listen, unless they are a lawyer or egineer LOL
never be affraid to ask a person questions, if he/she gives you advice be tankfull to them, if you get a no or a piss off or no response at all, then that person has there head up there a*** and it's not really worth talking to them |
