hi all great to be here. love your forum. I've dragged my old el xr8 out of the shed for its annual run. gave the old girl a pressure clean under the bonnet and now it won't start. no clicking or even relay noise. reading this forum carefully I've found that some men are talking about the starter relay. mine are not near battery but there are 3 near the left side front from west to east there is a blank then 3. which one is the starter relay please. and would it fix the problem and OH I started it up and drove it to wash bay so I know it goes. any help greatly appreciated. BALDRIK. I'm a 60-year-old in southeastern west Australia.

relays on left side are for radiator fan
starter relay should be under black plastic cover near battery held in with two screws
does interior light work
does smartlock light go out when ignition is turned on
have you checked battery connections and battery voltage
does it crank and not fire or no crank at all
check connection on to starter
check in park if auto
check connection at gear box ok
check connector at rear of engine

thankyou TedW. I started the car, drove to wash bay turned it off pressure washed engine bay and whole car for that matter and now it won't CRANK over. I've found the relays thanks to you and replaced them. I think I said it was a manual somewhere.
interior lite works
smarlock lite goes out when ignition turned on
new battery(i started and drove the car before water wash)

but I don't know what you mean by check connection at gearbox and rear of the engine.
what am I looking for there, please.

ignore check gear box connection was only in case it was auto

check main harness connections at rear of motor and at engine computer for loose connections(try wriggling).

can you hear starter relay click when you try to crank

bridge starter relay contact circuits (30 & 87) with a bit of wire or similar ,should crank,if not "tap"starter while cranking.

did you make sure the push on connector on the starter was still connected.

bash bottom of dash near left knee while trying to crank in case BEM is playing up.
