Does it work as per factory? (On with 'unlock', off with 'lock', and turn on with the interior light switch)

this one?

yes with the alarms i install the light works as expected, unlock the car it comes on, open the door and close it and it will delay, lock and arm the alarm it goes off, if you want it to fade then install an additional fade module otherwise it will just switch off.

Yeah that's the one.
Sounds great if it works like that.

Will you share your method with the FM community so we can all do it easily?
Plenty of people have installed their own alarms in the past and struggled with this detail.
I'm sure many people would appreciate having this bit of info available for the future.

^^^^^ +1. The majority of lower spec alarms won't do that, along with blip horn if doors not closed properly on locking.

it all depends on the alarm and how it handles the door switches and interior light, the ones i use handle it internally,
Door / Bonnet open warning requires an external module which connects to door switches, lock trigger and siren to handle that task.
