Hi
I have the misfortune of owning a car with a cd stacker factory, the car is an AU Fairlane this time. there is a component burned out on the board and it is not fixable. Where can i get a replacement 6 disk stacker, i have checked ebay and can not find one. The connection is different for this unit than the one in my jeep, if it is an option perhaps i could replace the genuine head unite with a genuine head unit with a CD player inbuilt. from what i am reading the XR6 had such a unit. My AU is a series 1.

Hello,
The Laser's lose power over time, in your position because of the age of the unit I would think about replacing the head unit. You can buy a plug and cable section to match the Car, so no hacked up cables. If you get a single Disc unit that plays MP3's you wont need a stacker, and many also take an SD card or USB stick. As a short term / temp fix there are cheap MP3 players with an FM transmitter that plug into the lighter socket. $10 on E Bay, and they come with a remote ! I tried one and it worked quite well, some dont though. You select a frequency not near any local Radio stations then tune your Car Radio to match.

are there any that work with the factory volume buttons on the steering wheel? also would be looking for ones that will have a close operation to that of the factory head unit.
EG. when the cd is played the antenna will go down. can play music for an hour or so without the key in the ignition none of the after market ones i have seen seem capable of this. Regards Barry
