Hey all, I've just built my first turbo Falcon and now the turbo bug has bitten again.
My plan is to swap an AU motor and auto into a completely different car (not even a Ford). I want to use the AU ECU with a J3 chip to bypass smartlock and use the whole motor/body loom to keep it on the cheap. Has anyone here got any info on this idea? Looking for some info on a SOHC conversion into an XD, XE, XF, or Cortina. Anyone who has some info on what other issues I'll need to sort out. Not ready to disclose what vehicle it is yet until the project is a definite go-ahead, but it's going to be a turbo E85 drag ute I'd really appreciate any info or links to SOHC conversions as I haven't had much luck searching. |

There are two forums in Aus specialising in X-Series, one less active now than it used to be.
xfalcon.com has a lot of information on people whove done the conversion but has become very less active. ozfalcon.com.au has more current info and more life. Nigel |

Thanks, Nigel. I'll check those sites out tonight.
Just need to know if it's a major headache swapping all the wiring and fuse box/relays. And AC/power steering delete. |

There's nothing to do for ac and p/s delete. The eec will log codes but no function changes
For ac delete there is a pulley available in Aus. i got my ac delete pulley off a 98 or so mustang in the us. For wiring - you can kinda slide it in but the x series are very different than au. Lots of info on the forums though. I put an nc 5.0 into an xf and spend a few days getting the wiring right. It's not impossible but it's also not required to get all of the wiring. The au engine harness is pretty stand alone and if you use a j3 chip to disable the immobiliser you won't need the rest of the harness anyway. I think you'd have to sort the o2 sensor and that might be it. You could also take that time to strip out the abs wiring. Good project anyway Cheers Nigel |
