Does anyone know the operating voltage of the BA ICC.
I mean the button inputs, ac potentiometers and volume rotary encorder. Is it 12v, 5v or 3.3v? Looked through my workshop manual and cannot find any info on it, googled the part number with sumitomo wiring systems prefix and got nothing. Been doing up a spreadsheet with the pin out and resistance values but its possible someone already has the info and would make my project a hell of a lot easier haha. Help would be appriciated, if anyone knows the operating voltage and or has a PCB diagram that would be swell, thanks

The whole thing works on voltage outputs right?
The voltage drop caused by the resistor network when a button is pressed is what the BEM interpret. I guess finding the resistance values means nothing, need to get it hooked up to a power supply and work on it from there.

pretty sure it uses a 12v rail.
Just tested the illumination with a 9v battery and only dimly lights up.

This is what i'm working on.
{DESCRIPTION} Going into my EB with BA interior, AU ECU and BCM so no CAN network. Have the volume dial sorted and AC Blend but cant figure out a lot of the buttons, what wire is the positive rail feed and which wires the buttons output on.

Can't help you with the basic ICC sorry...
When I modified the high series ICC for my BF turbo to fit the Parrot double din headunit, the circuit board in it uses a matrix like a computer keyboard... There was only a resistor or two and that was it... By deleting the CD player buttons I managed to delete a wire or two from the matrix wiring but that's it as most were still needed for other buttons... You wont find any help from Sumitomo or Ford... I emailed both and both told me that due to the fact it was proprietary I was going to get no help... Worst part was I put all my thoughts down on paper as I went and diagrams and I have no idea where it went now... Why not just cut the ICC up... plastic weld the EB climate control front in it and then the rest would mount up to it like normal? You'll get the screen and all exactly like the E series syetm and will just work with the heater box... Or you don't like the look (can't remember what the E series climate unit looks like now off the top of my head...) Cheers, Tim

Hey Tim,
Thanks for the reply. My goal is to create an ICC head unit bridge that has ISO9141 on one end (AUII) and J1979 on the other. This is so i can drive a BA cluster and HIM module with an AU ecu/bcm, the cluster implementation comes from wanting to fit a BA dash and interior. AU ECU for coilpack and sequential injection. I have a SOHC engine that I had built about 3 years ago, haven't used it as of yet and I doubt I can sell it for what was paid for it. This is why I'm not going DOHC (which would solve all my problems). I don't want to lose the factory ICC buttons, only the Radio preset buttons as they interfere with the placement of the display.

Going to use an Arduino with an ADC to control the buttons and potentiometers.
The Display and CAN bridge will probably be a RPi3 or Up Board with this CAN shield Up Board: http://www.up-board.org/ RPi: www.raspberrypi.org PiCAN2: http://skpang.co.uk/catalog/pican2-duo- ... -1482.html I'm still in the process of researching a lot of this but I've made headway since I first started. I think the PiCAN2 will give me what i need for an ISO9141 to J1979 bridge. The rotary volume encoder can interface directly with the GPIO on both boards as it's digital. just gotta get somewhere with the ICC buttons

The IC that drives the monochrome LCD seems to have key input functions as well, I can't find a datasheet specifically for LC75853N but have found datasheets for that family of ICs. http://www.alldatasheet.com/view_datash ... d=LC75853N Yup, it's definitely handling the buttons on the ICC. Page 6 of the datasheet shows the pinout for KS (key scan output) and KI (key scan input) This IC looks like it can handle the buttons by themselves. http://www.onsemi.com/PowerSolutions/pr ... d=LC75700T
