G'day folks, just here to get some opinions regarding the utilization of the Barra's SmartShield i think it's called. Most people bypass this when doing the Barra into E series conversion. Instead why not utilize the security feature? This would require the use of the mated key, barrel, BCM and ECU all together yes? ( Just learning about how the BA system works )

Not concerned about the cbf factor, just more interested if it can work properly.

Cheers.

Plan is to keep everything looking stock (Besides the engine bay), not sure about the airbags lmao.

Yeah quite the few conversions have been done, but it's also nice to have security and skip the bypassing cost.

the cost of the added components to make it work will cost more than bypassing it..

even though smartshield is heaps better than smartlock, its not going to stop someone from trying to steel it, if they wanted to steel it..
ba, bfs and fgs still get stolen, its not a fool proof system.

Imo your better off with a combination of hidden kill switches.

Damn, how much would i be looking at this point in time to bypass the SmartShield via software ( Only seen prices from older threads )

Ah yes, i can think of quite a few good places for an immobilization switch :)
